Mojo Rising
NBC Sports: The Patriots have formally asked the NFL to ensure the safety of their employees when the Colts and their dangerous president Bill Polian visit in November. The Pats are clearly tweaking Polian, who had to write an apology to a Jets employee earlier this month after shoving him before a Week 4 game. Polian and the Patriots have a long feud going back to before the Colts pushed for a "rules emphasis" for illegal contact after the 2003 AFC Championship. Bill Swerski
Why would the Patriots need extra security? Is Rodney Harrison not capable of taking out Polian's knees?
DMD
Why would the Patriots need extra security? Is Rodney Harrison not capable of taking out Polian's knees? Read that and two minutes later I realized Harrison was their safety. Need more caffeine...

msaint
Why would the Patriots need extra security? Is Rodney Harrison not capable of taking out Polian's knees? no worries. polian would just have the rule changed so that harrison couldn't come within 20 feet of him. Bill Swerski
no worries. polian would just have the rule changed so that harrison couldn't come within 20 feet of him. Which rule was that? The rule that allows defenders to grab spamshirts 10 yards from the line of scrimmage? The Pats organization has taken a serious hit in the "class" department over the past year and a half. What's next? A frivilous tampering change against the Colts? No, the one that said "Stop your f'n whining about the way defenses have been playing since football began and figure out a way to beat us on the field, not in the board room." I can't argue with that. The Colts didn't match up to the Pats until last year.

msaint
Funny little gem on this little p*ssing match, from NBCsports.com... Last March, the Indianapolis Colts outbid the Patriots for kicker Adam Vinatieri, a New England icon who’s a pretty good bet to wind up in the Hall of Fame. A few days after the signing, Colts president Bill Polian did a 20-minute phone interview with WEEI radio, a Boston sorts-talk radio station. Polian spent the time talking about how the Vinatieri signing went down and what a great deal it was for the Colts. This verbal victory lap galled Patriots officials. “Do we go on Indianapolis radio every time we beat them in the playoffs?” mused a Patriots source. Bill Swerski
“Do we go on Indianapolis radio every time we beat them in the playoffs?” mused a Patriots source.[/b] They don't have to. Their own beat writer is a columnist and TV analyst at ESPN and constantly sucks them off in the NATIONAL media several times a year (and especially the playoffs). Jesus, what a bunch of freaking hypocrites. So, it's wrong for Polian to do a pro-Colts interview on Boston radio, but it's just fine and dandy for more than half of ESPN's writers and analysts to be Boston or New York homers? Sounds "fair and balanced" to me! Edited October 20, 2006 by Bill Swerski
CaptainHook
and I'm sure it was Polian who called and asked to be on the radio. . .

Bill Swerski
I wasn't aware that Ron Borges was performing fellatio on ESPN? Sorry, I guess that Michael Smith isn't their beat writer anymore. I'm not defending Polian. Just pointing out the blatant hypocrisy.
