whomper Posted October 23, 2006 Share Posted October 23, 2006 a 5-1 QB change would be odd..Maybe unprecedented..That being said there will be games that they are gonna need him to win and the question that shanny has to ask himself is does he give you the best shot..Cutler has the goods but is still a rook and will bring with him rookie mistakes..I think they obviously wouldve made the move if they were losing to spark the team . Based on that logic, the Colts shouldn't have signed McFarland despite a pathetic run D because hey "they were winning." It's true that Cutler would bring rook mistakes with him. But IMO it's well worth the move anyway. Does anyone seriously think they have a shot at winning a SB with Plummer? I don't. And while it's also asking a lot, IMO they DO have a shot with the rook, despite being a rook. He will make mistakes, but he'd also make plays Plummer won't. Right now I'd say no. Shanny is going to have to do something if his play continues like this, or they'll be headed for an early exit. Like it or not Plummer is your best shot. Now if Denver drops out of the playoff race.... Start Cutler and get him some experience. This is the same argument I have with the Anti-Bledsoe crowd. You want to see the playoffs, keep Bledsoe. Romo isn't ready, he will lose more then he will win. Will Bledsoe take Dallas to the SB, not an Ice Cube's chance in he!!. Cuz the Broncos will get killed by Indy if Plummer plays the way he has so far this year. I think Plummer will go out, have a good enough game to make Denver very competitive in the game and secure the job for the rest of the year. Their D is what is currently masking Plummer's inept QB play and allowing them to be 5 - 1 & could just as easily mask any mistakes by Cutler while he learns & is readied with game experience, for the playoffs.
