"Running back Clinton Portis could sit out practice this week because of a mild high ankle sprain that he suffered in Sunday's loss to the Colts. Washington is on a bye this week, which will allow Portis to rest the injury. Portis was seen wearing a protective boot on that foot on Monday. He expects to be ready for their game against the Cowboys on Nov. 5."

I'm pretty familiar with the seriousness of a high ankle sprain, but I'm not too familiar with a mid high ankle sprain. Can anyone enlighten me?

Also, this looks like good waiver-wire Ladell pickup news, as I'm sure he's been dropped in many leagues recently.

The quote you posted says a "mild" sprain - not a mid sprain.
