Recommendation to the Huddle

It would be interesting to see a column written each week of players to try and trade for. It would be very well written if it could be done so in a two person perspective with each taking the other side. And then in conclusion to give their analysis.

For example, now might be a good time to start thinking about trying to trade for Fitzgerald. The positives are ....(preseason expectations, skill of said player, accuracy of QB, lack of running game, etc.) The negatives are ....(Losing team, hamstring tear, history of said injury, player history with injuries, Boldin's taking catches away, rookie QB, etc.)

Then, to give a conclusion with what the value would be for said player, perhaps even a ranking of where you think he would end up for the remainder of the season. (For example, given all the reasons to own, and not to own Fitz, we think he will end up ranking around 13-17th in terms of performance for the remainder of the season).

Thoughts?

I pretty much had the exact same thought earlier in the year. I think it would be a very nice addition as well (assuming that a good writer could be found to take it on).

I would think it would really add value to the site as a customer. I have a similar need, but I would like to break it down in a couple of areas.

1. The rest of the season "Play-off Run"

2. Play-off weeks "Play-off Watch" broken down by week 14, 15, & 16.

I routinely check out the rankings and match ups weekly to see if I need to make any moves to improve my chances of a) making the playoffs or B) increase the my odds of winning play-off weeks based upon the match ups/players with good upside.

I think mid year would be the latest to start due to many leagues having trading deadlines in the coming weeks.

I for one would love to see an article similar to this.

darin and i did something very similar to this in the idp forum earlier in the year...except rather then both giving opinions on the same guy we gave them on 2 that were ranked closely together...

“Opinions” is the operative word. There’s got to be some justification for it, like strength of schedule, injury, or even playoff run implications. Teams like Indy that will prolly be set, may rest players during your playoffs and warrant a prospective negative side in a non-keeper league, making a trade before any trade deadlines something to think about now. I like this idea as well, mainly when trades are offered to you so you can look at the nuances that you may have overlooked.
