MFL Questions

We currently use Fanball.com to host our league and we are pretty okay with it but for the most part I feel it is just missing something. All I hear about is MFL on these forums and how great it is. What is so great about it? Can I import stats from my Fanball league into an MFL league (for history) if I need to? Any advice and/or reviews would be helpful to try and get the okay to move to MFL would be great! Thanks!

I wish I could answer the import question but I can't. You could post on their forums, http://sidelineleagues.com/forums/index.php?showforum=2 and someone will know that answer for sure. Or hit them with an email, support@fflm.com

Can you customize your site? I took a tour of their demo and wasn't impressed with the design. Can we change that as well?

MFL is so awsome because you can do anything imaginable with fantasy football.

And if you can't figure out how, email them and they will make it possible.

They have hands down the best customer support, and will always get back to you within 24 hours concerning any problem.

You can customize every single aspect of the site.

Yea, they're tour isn't that flattering...

Here are two sites I designed for two leagues I'm in with Huddlers.

Home Town Heros

The Huddle's Rejects

It is a pretty good site.

Fully customizeable from the roster to the skin to where you want items on your page. Columns can be full width of whatever size you want. You can put items that you feel are important on the top of the page or wherever you want. You can upload your League icon and team icons.

Also have a live chat box.

Scoring is also completely customizable as well as roster size. I am in one league there with a full team - inc 11 on defense, the other league just has a team defense.

You can import your bylaws and rules.

You get lots and lots of new items from several sources updated constantly.

If you purchase early the fee is really reasonable - $70.00/year with access all year round.

I have been playing with their demo as well. I plan to move my league there next year and signup in June for $70. I like the fact that they have several templates for you to choose from to change the look. I have it setup to use the Huddle template. I may create my own for next season though.

I wouldn't make blanket statements like this. They never got back to us about adding 13 Week, 16 Team schedule. We emailed them twice and even GAVE them the schedule. Still nothing..

I've been considering a move too.

My son and I have always joined a CBS public league (just no hard feelings with trades, etc like those aired in this forum). And CBS has been minimal trouble, but I think we've just been fortunate.

Does MFL give you the option of joining a league, or do you need to have a full slate in place? I scanned the site a couple of times and didn't see anything that would let you just jump in like CBS does.

It is for established leagues. They don't do "public" leagues.

:D

So in other words, your commish was too lazy to set up the schedule himself and expected mfl.com to do your league work for you?

We use a customizable schedule every year - in-division double headers on non-bye weeks and predominantly out-of-division single headers during bye weeks, completely randomized. We create the schedule since it is so customized, and it takes me about 10 minutes each year before the season starts for me to load it at our mfl.com site using the custom schedule option.

I have yet to see any website equal CBS, or at least surpass. I have not heard of a feature on any other website that CBS did not offer, as well.

You sound like the 1% of the population that hasn't had issues with Sunday lineup submissions on CBS.

Good for you but I know some leagues that have completely dissolved because of CBS.

And you only have to pay twice as much for those same options. Sweeeet!

I assume CBS Sportsline has fully customizable IDP scoring, the opportunity to add punters or head coaches to the players on each team, full scoring options for each position with customizable scoring for different positions in different scoring categories, and mixed blind bid/FCFS FA each week - just for starters? I have to ask because I haven't be on a CBS site in about 6 years.

first, a disclaimer - i have never given the a CBS league more than a passing glance. that said, the following features are so head-and-shoulders above what i've seen on any other fantasy league management site, that I'd be amazed if CBS (or any other site, for that matter) offered more than one or two of the following features that mfl offers:

1. league "skins" - which are essentially pre-packaged appearance options. with one mouse click, you can change all league pages from looking like the default mfl.com skin to a halloween-themed skin to a draft beer skin to a huddle-themed skin - note those are just 4 of 30 mfl.com-provided skins. cutomers who know industry-standard CSS can create their own skins, and have literally unlimited control over all aspects of their league page appearance.

2. 60 different league "home page modules" that can be displayed literally anywhere on your league home page - two column layout, three column layout, unlimited "rows" in the league home page layout, etc. - in other words, if your league survivor pool is really important to you, you can put those results on the top of your league home page. if you're not running a pool, don't use this home page module.

3. all 60 home page modules can be "embedded" in any other web page on any site that you'd like - for example, you can include your league standings report directly into your personalized google home page, or any other web page that you'd like.

4. RSS feed of key league data.

5. if you happen to be a developer yourself, a developer's program whereby key league data is available in XML format, allowing you to extend the product as you see fit.

6. mfl gameday, a PC-based program with a ton of live scoring display options, and also audio integration so that your PC can announce touchdowns, teams in the red zone, etc. to you.

7. no advertising on league pages. no spam email because you signed up for a league. :D

8. trading of future year draft picks.

9. literally unlimited waiver periods per week. you want your worst-to-first waivers to run multiple times per day? no problem.

10. an active on-line community, where you can offer your ideas for site improvements (and get direct responses from the site owners!), and share other customization ideas with other league commissioners.

this list is not meant to be comprehensive - just an example of many, many things that mfl.com offers that (i'd be willing to bet!) CBS (or Fanball, RTSports, ESPN, Yahoo, FoxSports, etc.) most likely does not offer. :bash:

edit to add:

11. ability to access the site. :D

Let me just say that austink just posted the best MFL data post that I have ever seen. We have plenty of people here that know what we have with MFL and none of us are shy about sharing a great product. Plenty of people are hesitant to change, I was in a cbs league that wouldn't change, they do not exist today. I have been an MFL user pretty much since I started with online fantasy football. Every year they get better and better and having said that they were already on the top of the game before any improvements.

Point is, if you want no hassle web based fantasy football web service, I really don't think there is any way that you can beat what MFL offers.
