The stew was a hit last week, so I'll be doing another this week. Smoked Sausage & Cabbage Stew Prep-20 min Cook-low 7 hrs/high 3 1/2 hrs CP-3 1/2-4qt 4 cups packaged shreeded cabbage with carrot(cole slaw mix) or coarsley chopped cabbage 1 1/2 cups-peeled, cubed potatoes 1 cup sliced carrots 1 cup cored and coarsley chopped red apple 12 to 16 oz- cooked smoked sausage, sliced( the recipe calls for "cooked cheese smoked sausage") 3/4 teaspoon fennel seeds, crushed 2 1/4 cups-reduced sodium chicked broth 1/3 cup apple juice Step 1-In CP place cabbage, potatoes, carrots, and apple. Place sausage on top of vegetables. SPrinkle with fennel seeds. Pour chicken broth and and apple juice over all. Step 2- Cover and cook desired time/temp-spoon into bowls. Serve with wedges of hearty bread or drop in slices of crusty sourdough. Now for some football, I like the Steelers to march on the Saints this Sunday.
