TheGrunt
Not sure if this has already been posted earlier, but I've got Ladell Betts and Wali Lundy on my RB crew. The problem is that my leagues trade deadline has passed and I've also got Kevin Jones, Ronnie Brown and Shaun Alexander as my definite starting RB's. First, does Ladell Betts have any value at this point considering he'll be playing for injured Clinton Portis (broken hand)? Second, should I just allow Lundy and Betts to remain on my bench while I now have three solid starters to play ahead of them? Or should I try and push for an extension of the leagues trade deadline, which would be very difficult to do of course. I realize having two solid players on my bench might be very useful come playoff time, but it's just so hard to be forced to sit two players that I know have trade value and could provide me with some decient trade opportunities! Any opinions or ideas?
Hugh 0ne
In deep leagues Betts had value before the Portis injury. Now he has significantly more value. IMO, he's a decent #2 RB, or great flex option.
Whiskey Pimp
If your trade deadline has passed, then it's over. You leave him on the bench this week and watch to see how the Skins use him. I'm sure no defenses are scared of Jason Campbell right now so I'd expect 8 in the box to stop Betts for now. If Campbell makes D's respect his passing game, then things might open up for Betts a bit.
Rockerbraves
Betts is clearly in potential stud territory. This is the starting back of a potentially dominant running team. And a team which will run the ball even when it isn't dominant. If a draft were held today for the rest of the season, I would think Betts would be a late second, early third round pick. This thread concerns the most important free agent acquisition of this season and no one is saying anything? I think some people are crossing their fingers that they get him off the wire. I think Duckett is the key to this question. If he assumes goal-line duties, then Betts will be solid, if unspectacular. If Betts gets the bulk of the carries and most of the goal-line carries, then he could be as valuable as Portis. With both Duckett and Betts being free agents, especially Betts, it will be interesting to see how the Skins use them. They could find out what Betts is made of, but will then have to pay far more for him, if they want to keep him. If Betts totally shines, it probably be impossible for the Skins to afford both Portis and Betts. And Grunt, extending your trade deadline because your team is so studly is redonkulous. I'm thinking Betts is pretty valuable and happens to be available on both my leagues waivers. Not very confident he'll be there since I'm fairly low on the ww priority list, but I'm making a fairly decent investment by dropping Foster for him in one league and Jennings in the other. jake_the_builder
I just dealt Betts/C.Brown for MHarrison/NHerron. I have LJ/LT/AGreen, so I was never gonna use Betts in a situation where I can either start 2rb/3wr or 3rb/2wr's. I am ending up going with LJ/LT and Harrison/Walker/Driver. Savage Beatings
Sometimes the value of having a deep bench is that those players are not out there earning points as someone else's starters.
Moss6
Does Betts have more value than M. Bell even though he will be boxed. Was Shanny just messing with Bell2 and will he be back. I am so confused
nhoops
Sometimes the value of having a deep bench is that those players are not out there earning points as someone else's starters. +1 As a Portis owner with a deep bench I dropped M.Bell for him as well. Since I'm tied for 1st I haven't had to many responses to my trade inquiries....so better on my bench.
bustedflush16
I have Betts, but the word out of DC says Duckett is going to split carries. I'm trying to decide if I need to go get Duckett for depth and keeping Duckett from other owners in a very competitive league. I guess I am hoping Gibbs/Saunders sticks with Betts as the primary guy. I remember hearing Saunders talk in the preseason prior to Portis' injury about how he wanted to find ways to get Betts on the field, here's hoping for us Betts owners that he finds that way now. Ursa Majoris
Sometimes the value of having a deep bench is that those players are not out there earning points as someone else's starters. True dat. If you've got the room, stack up starters on your bench just to keep 'em away from others.
TheGrunt
And Grunt, extending your trade deadline because your team is so studly is redonkulous. I know. I was in a frantic mood, and more than likely half drunk when I wrote the Post, but it's pretty obvious that would be ridiculous if my league actually extended the trade deadline just for me. It's a sweet dream of a thought though. I could get some pretty great value for Betts right now selling high. Although, with the news of Clinton Portis possibly having season ending surgery to repair his hand I'm getting more and more excited with each new report.
