chiefjay
I know we have too many threads going on the Mich / OSU game but they all seem to be headed in a different direction. Anyways, congrats to you Buckeye fans in this Forum. TOSU, Sac, Loaf, DB, et al... You guys out played UM in every facet with the exception of TOs' which helped get us back into the ball game. I was greatly disappointed in our defense, not for not being able to stop Smith but for allowing the big plays on the ground and the extensive ground yardage in general. I thought our Safeties and non Leon Hall corners could be exposed and they were. Anyone else "know" that OSU would go deep on that 2nd and inches play? I can't believe the Safety bit, even for a half second. Ouch. Oh well. I'm not necessarily a proponent of a rematch. If it makes sense then fine. If USC runs the table then I think they're should be debate and if they end up getting the bid then I have no problem with it. TOSU, you owe me a sigline. I'll get it up shortly after I receive it. chiefjay
Are you telling me that part of the discussion was around our spikes? I was in a bar and couldn't hear the sound and didn't hear this after the game either? I was talking to a buddy about this on like Friday, the new turf and everything and I said soemthing to the effect that I hope we have the right cleates on for the turf, whatever they may be. I mean both teams play on the same field so I could care less about the condition but if our receivers have 1/4 in. cleates and should have had 1/2 in. cleates that I will be a little disappointed. The helmet to helmet was pretty weak IMO but you see that now a days in Pro Sports. It's getting rediculous when you can't make a tackle without fear of a helmet to helmet or equivalent type penalty. What if they offensive guy lowers his head at the last second? Oh well. Edited November 22, 2006 by chiefjay

What if they offensive guy lowers his head at the last second? Oh well. Although it was not malicious, and it was not late, it was the right call. Any helmet to helmet hit, especially when the player leads with the crown of his helemet, it will be called. There were 3 calls that were iffy, but ultimately probably the right call. The roughing the center call and the pass interference call were also borderline. In the end the officials did not decide the game and neither did the cleats.
