WorstCoachingEver Posted November 20, 2006 Share Posted November 20, 2006 After 8 games, Des Clark had: 29 catches, 429 yards, 3 TDs. The last 2 games: 2 catches, 4 yards, 1 TD. What's the deal? Last week's game against the Giants, Al Michaels mentioned that Grossman considers Clark his safety valve. Is Grossman the problem or something else? Easy n Dirty Posted November 20, 2006 Share Posted November 20, 2006 Yesterday's game may not be much of an indicator - the Bears only attempted 22 passes while running it 35 times, although as Clark owner I share your disappointment - would like to see him get more looks than that. Overall, I don't think Clark is or really ever has been a dependable TE that provides production every week. There are only a couple of those in the entire league. Using standard scoring, he's 6th among TEs in the league right now, only 9 points behind Gates. But even early in the year when he was running a little better, he had a 3-week span where he put up a collective 8 points - so I'm not sure this little mini-slump, for lack of a better term, really represents any dramatic drop-off. Looking at the Huddle's fantasy stats, he got 50 looks through the first ten weeks, but only 2 last week (haven't seen yesterday's stats yet, but I watched most of that game, he may have only gotten that 1 pass thrown his way). But one week earlier he had 8 passes thrown his way (week 9). He's not an elite TE, but he is certainly a viable starter in most leagues, and I'll keep rolling him out there. rocknrobn26 Posted November 20, 2006 Share Posted November 20, 2006 Can't argue w/ the above, except to add that this is the first year in probably the last 20 that a Bear TE has gotten any production. I could be wrong, but the last TE that was a receiving threat was Emery Moorehead! Since then they used the TE as an additional blocker. He won't get a lot of points like a Gonzo or Heap, but the Bears are finally trying to work him into the rec. game. I wouldn't give up hope, but He'll probably never be much better than a 6-8 ranked TE. But as someone mentioned, that ain't bad. Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
