The Irish Doggy
Have to brag on my boy. Now at the top of WR rankings in most scoring system for total points amoung WRs - Most yards in the NFL, and tied with a few others for 2nd in TDs. Seems Chad has benefited from Carson taking a hard look at his mechanics over the last few weeks. And he seems to have taken a page from the shut up and play book. So, on the year, he has 2 really awesome games, 3 good games, 3 below average games, and 2 really bad games... .... Big John, edit that title please. DMD
I had to look and seems that Chad went from being the #30 ranked WR in week #9 to being the #1 in week #11. I think that has to be a record. I think that one thread about "I am happy to be dropping Chad Johnson" is an instant classic.

The Irish Doggy
Elias reports that CJ set a two game record for receiving yardage with 450 receiving yards . Up next Cleveland... Wonder if he could set a 3 game record?
CardinalEmpire.com
Cleveland is quietly turning in a very good defensive season in the secondary. That may be because teams run all over them, but the Browns are only allowing 191 yards per game through the air (7th in the NFL) and 10 TD's (8th). They are +3 in TD's to INT's this season, tied for 4th with several teams. As a CJ owner, I sure hope he sets the record. But I fear that this is a Rudi Johnson type of game. rebdog
As a dynasty owner of CJ and LT2, let me just say "oh ya!!!". i gotta say though, between SD and New Orleans, they've made life easy for CJ the last two weeks. i was at the SD game and couldn't believe he was single covered so often. and the blown coverages between SD and N.O.'s were unbelievable on a couple of his long scores. If you single cover Chad, you're toast, no matter what some CBs boast about (I guess they think the safety behind them is there to cover the Bengals fearsome TE). I think a lot of coordinators over the summer decided that you just double Chad and move on. The Bengals didn't seem to prepare as well for this obvious turn of events (or the injuries/court cases) and struggled early. The question is, will they have the answer when Cleveland doubles Chad this Sunday? (Hint, the answer to the question is RUUUUUUDI) Edited November 21, 2006 by Bengal Mania

CardinalEmpire.com
...so, what is the three game record for receiving yardage? Well, Charley Hennigan had 3 200 yard games in the 1961 season, so Chad doesn't need more than a couple hundred to break it I guess. Seriously, I have no clue. You'd think the NFL would keep better stats records on their site.
Slugs
I have Chad & our league is total points for the season, not head to head competition. So I don't care if it is 12 -20 points a week or 45 every two - I will take it.

I figured something like that had to be on the Bengals site, but you are correct on Charley Hannigan being the record holder...CJ needs 163 yards in the next game to break the three game record. Now that wide receiver Chad Johnson has set the NFL record for yards in consecutive games with 450, the number to watch Sunday is 163. That would give him the record for three straight games, set 45 years ago by Houston’s Charley Hennigan in the wide-open AFL of 1961 with 612. Bingo. I was kinda waiting for that one since he's widly regarded as the best CB in the league right now. In 2004, Chad lit up vs. Champ's single coverage for 149, 1 TD on MNF. He also reguarly does well vs. the Ravens highly regarded secondary. Fact of the matter is he must be double covered, and some teams triple covered him this season. Whiskey Pimp
I think teams will go back to double and triple covering him from here on out...or at least they should.
tonorator
while i've enjoyed these past 2 games, chad has killed my team for the year. his mediocre numbers up until the point of the 2 games caused me to have a wasted high round pick for the first half of the season. so while i'm not dropping him, and think anyone who did/does is nuts, i certainly wish i would not have drafted him in the early rounds. further, i think it is still anyone's guess on how he finishes the year given how inconsistent the bengals have been. rebdog
seems you could make a case for Ike Taylor...or Rashean Mathis. i believe they got check marks last year.
Pitbull739
Traded Johnson away week 9 for McGahee. Willis breaks his ribs and CJ goes nuts. I love this game.
