He noted that Vernon was a good blocker and that it was a shame that they were not able to use his downfield ability. Based on the above, IMHO if you had to choose a Niner TE I would go with Johnson. mitpdub Posted November 23, 2006 Share Posted November 23, 2006 I think Johson is the starter and gets more balls tossed his way. VD, should he catch one, is prone to break bigger yardage gains. If you have any other choices at TE, I wouldn't start a niner TE for now. The team will keep running Gore as long as he's hot, and Smith hasn't thrown for over 200yds in a game for quite a while now.
