joethin
Campbell looked good against the Bucs. The Redskins schedule doesn't look that bad down the road. Is Gibbs playing for the future and staying with Campbell? Stay with Betts and have Portis on the Market? If I remember correctly Saunders had a lot of praises for Betts during TC & PS... Any thoughts/insights?
spain
Sorry, but all of the Skins fans jumped off the bandwagon and are now hiding in the closet, sucking their thumbs and mumbling something about "heck, the team was better than this under Spurrier". theeohiostate
In the 2005 draft class, i thought Campbell had the best potential of any QB in the draft and liked him well over Rogers and Smith. That still doesn't translate into a good QB for the remainder of the season. He'll flash his armstrength at times and look very average at best. This was the best move for the Redskins to make this season, i'd expect Campbell to be a very solid QB in years to come. I loved this kid in Georgia, he loves to throw the deep ball and has the ideal physical features to be a top notch QB some day. Like many rookies he'll struggle to audible and grasp the offense under pressure situations, but with a good O-line, he could be nice. I thought he really sucked until his senior year when the light came on for him and he made great strides. I was SHOCKED that the Redskins actually reached and selected him in the 1st round. I thought he would be a 3rd rounder or so. I think that Gibbs didnt like Patrick Ramsey at all and so he felt he desperately needed to get a young QB in camp to groom for a couple years. So, he reached a little for Campbell, although he was definitely the best QB on the board when Washington took him. That said, the jury is still out on Campbell obviously. But Brunnell is horrible and they had to at least see what Campbell can do at this level. It will definitely take a few games to get an idea what Campbell has to offer and whether he has the ability to be a full time starte in this league. You can rest assured the Skins will be bringing in a fa QB or 2 next season and drafting a QB too, whether Campbell works out or not. theeohiostate
He didnt play at Georgia. He played QB at Auburn. Yep, i just re-read my post and caught that. I don't think they reached on Jason at all, he was a projected 1st rounder going in. Edited November 23, 2006 by theeohiostate
joethin
Thanks for your input. I think it is great timing. None of the teams they are playing (CAR, ATL, PHI, NO, STL) ranks in the top 10 defenses against QBs and most of them are high scoring offenses which will give Campbell a chance to gun out.
