Add Coughlin to fired list

I can't see Coughlin coming back next year even if the Giants have a winning season. I really feel like they need a new change of direction. The players are out of control, undisciplined and clearly don't have his back....especially after losses! Plus I'm just tired of watching all his sulking and antics on the sidelines after every play. Good grief show some composure already. I'll be happy to see him gone.

You'd think a coach with a reputation for a diciplinarian would have some sort of control over his team. Coughlin is no Parcells. He can't be an a-hole to his players and still get them to respect him.

when you make bad coaching decisions...you lose respect quickly..

This has been a very painful season to watch. I can only hope that the Giants ditch him at the end of this season. As much as he's done for Tiki, he hasn''t done squat for Eli. I feel like Eli is still the same under-achieving QB he was as a rookie.

Yeah, they're not playing for him any more. Plax looks like Moss, quiting on too many plays.

Let's be perfectly honest here. That has ALWAYS been the knock on Plax. This is why you could hear the cheering from Pittsburgh over here when he left for greener pastures.

Now the Kiwanuka play could be chalked up to rookie stupidity, but all of these little things add up to trouble with management. It is funny to say that a Tom Coughlin team lacks discipline. It's gonna be up to the Vets on this team to right this ship because the coaching staff certainly doesn't seem to be able to do anything.

I admit I went too far a few weeks back when I said I wasn't a Giants fan anymore, heat of the moment type stuff, but THIS is exactly what I was talking about. This team is a joke and makes SO many mistakes both mentally and physically it is ridiculous. You know what though YES blame the HC but blame the front office as well. We KNEW what Shockey was. We KNEW what Plax was. So when you have a team of me first kind of guys and you keep bringing them in here this is the result. Add in Tiki who just needs to shut up and there you go. Now Eli is terrible. Their D has like 1 starter left. And their season is just about over. Shame because this season seemed to have promise just 3 games ago. Guess that's why they play the games.

Plax quits on plays no matter what. He quit last year when CAR blew NYG out in the playoffs. He left and never even went to the final meeting, and still stands by his decision to do so. It doesn't matter who Plax is playing for, because he only plays for himself.

:D Are you seriously going to attack Tiki? Tiki is in the top 5 classiest players in the NFL. He expressed some dissatisfaction with the coach's decision to completely abandon the run for absolutely no reason at all.

He has single handedly carried the Giants to victories for years, and in a season where's it PAINFULLY obvious they need him more than ever to do it again and again, they keep putting games on the back of Eli Manning for no good reason whatsoever.

Don't tread on Tiki. :D

And there's about a 0% chance that Coughlin is out next year. He took the team to the division title last year when their own expectations were 7-9 or 8-8. They're still in the running for the division and certainly for the playoffs.

Lets eee Tiki ripped the coaches after the Carol game and now did it again after last weeks game. Here is what you are missing. It isn't about right or wrong it is about YOU KEEP THAT STUFF IN HOUSE. He may be 10000% right but you don't say it pubically. He needs to shut up with that stuff.

You are exactly right.

Which is why Coughlin is such a dope. He calls Tiki into his office this past week, tells him to keep all his comments in house...fair enough.

Then Coughlin goes on his post-game tirade and rips Eli Manning?

Gee, thanks for keeping things "in-house" Tom....fine example you are setting for your players, especially after you just told your best player to do the same.

:D

What was the explanation of this play? Did he think he was 'in the grasp' or did he think Young didnt have the ball any more? Either way there is no harm in holding on just to make sure, that was just silly.

I have to say what goes around comes around, I think the Giants should have won this game but should have lost at Philly.

As far as the players taking over, I think thats correct, IMO if Plax or Shockey or Tiki or who-ever is trying to undermine the team you have to nip that in the bud or else the next player sees it's OK and then its too late. So I think this is the end of the line for Coughlin in NY either during the season or soon after he should be fired.

I believe Coughlin was a big part of the reason for Tiki to announce his retirement, not sure Tiki wants to be a RBBC. What I mean is Tiki is putting up half the numbers of a guy like Westbrook or LT or LJ etc.. and he's like the 10th (or worse) payed RB in the league, I think he would like to be paid like a near-MVP (like he was last year) but with him getting squat for TDs IMO he's just another RB who doesn't have the numbers to back up being payed higher than top 20 RB money.

I thought Parcells should have done something to TO after his anticts, but it sees to have worked out so far. But you can't let the players have too much freedom of expression.

I agree with this post 100%, Coughlin's gotta' answer for this one - very hypocritical I thought.

From what I read in today's Newsday...

Kiwanuka thought Young actually threw a pass while he was tackling him and didn't want to risk a penalty for roughing etc.

I don't disagree. I am not a big Coughlin fan at all. With that said the Giants future is based on one thing though...the growth of Eli. He looks terrible these days and if that is now a career trend then the Giants will struggle for years to come. If this is just a rut and he starts to improve they'll be okay. So all this other stuff IMO is a little meaningless. It is all about Eli's growth IMHO.

Brutal mistake, but I am sympathetic to the guy just because of the way they've been calling roughing-the-passer this season.

That's what I thought when I saw the play. If he gets a roughing call, he keeps the drive alive as well. Tough call, he had his head down, and thought Young had released the ball.

Coughlin needs to get this team under control. I'd start by benching Burress. Anyone who gives up on plays consistently should ride pine until his attitude shows improvement.

Much of this stuff is true but the bottom line for this team is injuries. The Giants are absolutley decimated by the injury bug right now.If they just had the starters at the defensive end positions we would not be having this discussion and the G-men would be 8-3.

I agree to a certain extent, but injuries or not, Coughlin's losing this team fast.

coughlin hasn't done the greatest job steering the ship, granted. but the giants players as a group are being a bunch of whiny Rosie O'Donnell and ultimately, i believe, sabotaging their own season with their insubordination. there's a lack of professionalism there from top to bottom. to be fair, on the defensive side of the ball injuries may be the main culprit. but on the offensive side, all the whining and backbiting from the coach and the "star" players on down has turned a very talented, promising unit into a big turd.
