Rockerbraves
Sounds like "The Ol' Ball Coach" is headed to Alabama. His timing could be pretty good now that Bama is coming off their probation period. Shula's firing means Alabama is looking for a head coach for the fourth time since 2000. The Tide has had seven coaches in the 24 years since Paul "Bear" Bryant's last season in 1982. Bryant had directed the Alabama program for 25 years. Moore praised Shula for providing "stability for our program through four years of NCAA probation" that ends Feb. 1, 2007.
Coffeeman
Wow, talk about no loyalty to his recent Gamecocks recruits. Are they going to pay him that much more, or does he think the talent is that much better in AL in the short run? Because in the long run, he should be able to recruit no matter where he is.... detlef
Wow, I'm a bit of a UT Vols fan, so this hardly makes me like the guy anymore than I did (not much).
Rockerbraves
Not official yet, but things are moving quickly. Rather he stay on the SEC East myself even though LSU starts a series against South Carolina next season. BAMA is by far a better gig then the Gamecocks. I am with you on this one too, I don't want to see him in Tuscaloosa!
Glabra
The over-rated ball coach has now become the SEC coaching whore. We'll se how he does, but I won't be surprised if he's under-whelming. He's all about offense and drawing up plays; but these days, the best teams win by executing in all 3 phases of the game. And the ole ball coach doesn't give a hoot about special teams. He'll still be able to recruit though, and that's what'll help him stay afloat.
Lady.hawke
Is this true? Everything I have read sounds like a complete denial from the Spurrier side.

Heard he is denying it too. Guess that means he's not leaving S.C. Why would he want it? He's happy in Columbia and has a membership to Augusta National. Rockerbraves
Local AL TV station is reporting that spurrier will talk to Alabama officials today?
GWPFFL BrianW
This story is just funny. I guess Bama offered Spurrier anything you could imagine, including the AD job when he retires from coaching, and he turned it down.
untateve
I just saw that South Carolina has extended spurrier's contract through 2012 and bumped him from 1.25 to 1.75 million per year.

Donutrun Jellies
There's always the Miami opening... Does Spurrier have strong enough connections with parole officers to recruit for The U?
