Vikes QB situation

well, good luck to you as well with the qb thing hugh.

i guess i'm not sure what these teams are waiting for. it's a dog eat dog world in the nfl right now with free agency and progressive salaries. coaches are hired and fired almost immediately if they don't produce. i guess i'm not sure why coaches aren't starting to do that with their players. i don't necessarily like the "what have you done for me lately" mentality, but that's just the world pro sports has turned into. tell a player to get in there and do the job he was hired for. if he doesn't, sorry, next..... i think if you do anything different, you are screwing the team overall.

so, we can all admit that brad johnson isn't going to win the vikes the super bowl, right? then what does it matter? make a change, it might be saving your job.

i'm awfully tired of hearing about tony romo, but parcells made the switch and it's put a spark into his team. they went from a team everyone saw as probably going .500 with bledsoe to all of a sudden nfc favorite.

Well, this should clear things up. :D

Please don't start Brad. Ever again. Please start Tarvaris. Ready, not ready, who cares, give the kid the rock, say a half dozen Hail Mary's, strap on a set of Depends, and see what happens.

I've just noticed that your sig line reads thus:

Yes, my 22'000 posts do make me smarter than you.

If you're so smart, why do you use an apostrophe where a comma should be? :D

Asked why he is not pursuing the job more aggressively, Jackson said he prefers a quieter style.

"It's not my decision to make," he said. "It's Coach Childress' decision. If he calls on me, I'll do my best. I'm very confident. I can play. It's just, I'm not going to be bragging and boastful about it."

Tavaris just keeps giving me more and more reasons to like him. I really hope he gets his shot and performs well so we can stop hearing about this crap and move on.

Ah ha. I have a logical explanation Mr. Smarty Pants. I went to college in Europe. In Europe, numbers are displayed with an apostrophe, not a comma. You're gonna have to do better than that. :D

Aren't decimal points and commas indication reversed in Europe? (as in 22,468.00 in America be listed as 22.480,00 there) :D

Really, Brooks Bollinger isn't the worst option, if healthy - sort of a younger version of Brad Johnson - but with a better arm and more athletic ability.

Keeps Jackson from ending up on the list of shell-shocked QBs thrown in WAY before they were ready.

Like Romo, Cutler, Vince Young, and Leinart? :D

I think there's a big difference between TJ and these guys. All of them started the season as the clear cut #2 QB on their team. They spent time getting their reps with the main unit each week. I believe Young even played a few series in each game before he actually became the starter. TJ on the other hand has spent pretty much all his practice time leading the scout team. If Brad wasn't getting the reps, it was Bollinger.

I may be in the minority on this, but I'm one that says DON'T start TJ this week. Don't get me wrong. Brad is old and done. He has single handedly lost at least 2 or 3 of the games this year. If Bollinger wasn't hurt, I would be screaming 100% get Brad out of there and put in Bollinger.

All 4 of the guys you listed got the extra work to prepare them for their first start. If the Vikes were to start TJ this week, he'd basically be getting 3 practices this week with the first unit and then sent out there. I'm not sure that's the smartest way to get him started in his NFL career.

If it were me, I'd announce Brad was still starting this week. I'd also announce TJ would be getting a series or two in the 2nd quarter. Then he'd be out, and Brad back in. I'd also do the same thing in the 2nd half, perhaps giving him even a few more plays. Let him get some action this week, see how it goes and next week he would be better prepared for his first start.

I'd also pull Brad aside and make it clear, if he wasn't moving the ball during his time early in the game, and TJ came in and had some success...well, then the plan could change real quick too.

I want to see TJ out there this year and see what he's got. And the sooner the better. But I'd rather see us be smart about it too.

Maybe we should sent Tarvaris to the grocery store circuit for a couple years to bag groceries and then he'll be ready to dominate like Kurt Warner back in the day.

The only problem with that is he'd be 28 years old when he came back. Brad can't last that long and neither can Childress. :D

Only in Switzerland, according to my Language and Regional Options in Control Panel. Which is where you went, of course. :D
