Brentastic
Well, I've had my HD tv for about 15 months and the lamp already went out this past Saturday. Of course CC's service dept was not open over the weekend. So, I call today and submit my issue but cannot finish because the parts department was busy. Long story short, IF I can get in touch with parts dept tomorrow, it will take 7-10 business days for them to ship my part. Worst case scenario, since Xmas falls in between the 8-10 business day, is that I will not be able to watch football for 3 straight weeks (this past weekend and the next two). My biggest rant is: Why don't they have these lamps (CC says it is the most commonly replaced part in an HD tv) available at the store?!?! I'm sooooooooo pissed right now yet there is nothing I can do!!!!!! There has to be something I can do.
Brentastic
Oh yeah, my point is that the old school tvs, at least in my experience, would last longer than a year before crapping out. No one should have to go 2-3 weeks without TV. This is a traveshamockery!!!!!!!!

I came close to switching the channel, but I was transfixed with the clarity of his hideousness.

CopeDog
Call the manufacturer directly...If its a Sony, they typically have great customer service.
mitpdub
What kind of TV did you get? The base warranty on some of the brands are 24 mo's in home. Also, at least you can change that lamp, while the plasma's don't crap out that quickly, you can't just replace the gas in them. KOKIDKOKID
One word for future purchases - Costco. I bought my 1st plasma (42'' Akai) there about 3 years ago. It died 2 years later. I went to their (Costco's) website to see what their return policy was for plasmas...it looked like I could return it. I didn't want to haul it all the way to my closest Costco until I confirmed the return policy. I called and spoke a to live body and they confirmed it for me. I loaded up my broken plasma and got a full refund which I used to buy a newer much better 42'' Pioneer plasma at Costco (for the same price I paid 2 years earlier for a much worse brand) and it is still working. Buy those kinds of things at Costco - they take stuff back no questions asked and you can upgrade or buy the same one for free!! CC has the suckiest customer service IMO. They could give a crap after you walk out the door and their return policy is weak a$sed. KO'd
Brentastic
Thanks for all the helpful tips I have a Panasonic 52 inch, bought last Summer (2005). I will mos def call Panasonic tomorrow to get, hopefully, a speedier replacement. It's funny, someone mentioning buying a new one. I can be an impulsive buyer at times and I damn near bought like a 42 incher as a backup/new bedroom TV. Thankfully my senses got the better of me. Never tried Costco, I will def check it out though. Thanks all.
