Rules

I'm trying to compose a set of rules that are sorta bullet proof. Take a look, any advice is appreciated. The purpose is to try to limit the need to have a debate in a league that is caused by vague rules or uncovered material.

Draft

All owners must have league entry fees paid before drafting.

All owners to provide commish with contact number to be reached during draft.

Live or online draft begins ___???_______

Number of rounds set at 20

Auto pick or draft robot is enabled

Time limit in between picks is ___???______

Players not listed on hosting site may still be drafted by notifying the commish

of your selection, then commish will manually enter the said player.

It is up to each owner to search for their desired player, the commish is not

responsible for players not found by an owner.

Any team that accidentally drafts a player that he/she did not intend on

doing so, must post a message to the league and commish IMMEDIANTELY following

the pick. At that time, the other owners should take note of a draft suspension

until the commish can fix the error. If players are taken by auto pick or quickly

thereafter, before the request was made, those picks shall stand and the owner

that needs the correction may only select from players remaining in the FA pool.

Use auto pick at your own risk. If auto pick is turned on, and selections are made

that you did not really like, they shall stand. However, if the commish sees a

consistent problem with your picks using this feature, he will suspend draft

and notify that owner. No picks will be changed, only suspension of draft, so they

can fix their auto picks.

Draft day no shows. An owner not reporting to the draft at said time will be

emailed and contacted with their provided contact number, failure to call back

and report within 5 minutes will result in the draft moving forward. A replacement

owner will be sought after to do your draft , if one cannot be found, then the hosting

site rankings and auto pick will be set for your draft.

If you draft a player with the same name. There are a handful of players with the

same name. If you enter the incorrect player and it's obvious you've made a mistake

by picking Rickey Williams of Miami and not Ricky Williams of Indy, the commish will

will suspend the draft and correct the mistake. Other owners drafting afterwards should

show some class by not taking your intended selection, but if they did take the player in

question the selection will stand and the owner with the error can select for the remaining

FA pool.

Playoffs

Playoffs start in Week 14

Disional winners to be awarded the top 3 seeds, use the tie breaker system set of guidlines to determine

to seeding for all teams.

Top 2 seeds shall be awarded the bye in week 1 of the playoffs

#3 seed to face the #6 seed in week one.

#4 seed to face the #5 seed in week one.

Week 2 of playoffs the #1 seed shall face the lowest remaining seed, while the #2 seed faces

the remaining contender.

Week 3 of the playoffs shall be the winners of week 2 in one contest to determine the #1 and #2 team

and the losers of the week 2 playoff games to determine the #3 and #4 teams.

Toilet Bowl seeding and playoffs games are to be the same as the system above. If this is

a keeper league however order is reversed from worst to first. The 2 worst teams will get the

byes and are seeded the #1 and #2 seeds, with the loser of the toilet bowl getting the 1st pick

in the following seasons draft.

Tie Breakers,Playoff seeding and divisional winners

Divisional Winners and all other playoff seedings shall have the tie breaker

be as follows.

1. Most Wins or best percentage, ties count as a 1/2 point.

2. H2H -

This only applies to 2 teams, 3 or more go to next tie breaker.

....Examples 1. Team A and Team B are both 7-7, Team B beat Team A, therefore Team B wins the tiebreaker.

.....Example 2. Team A and Team B are both 7-7 , They split a pair of games in the regular season. Team A has more total points (#3 tie breaker), therefore he advances.

.....Example 3. Teams A, B and C are all 7-7, there are 2 playoff positions left for the 3 teams. Team A has the most points, therefore he gets the top spot of the 3. Team B and C will now restart the tie breaking process, since there are only 2 teams now, the H2H will be the 1st determination. Team B beat Team A and takes the last remaining spot.

Sportsmanship, Inactive owners clause.

If an owner isn't managing their team for personal or any other reason the league

shall vote by majority on setting their lineup. The team will not be permitted to

trade or process any transactions by using this option, however if a new owner can

be found, he will be asked to pay 1/2 league entry fee and that money will be added onto the

league payout. The previous owner, unless leaving for personal or illness,

will not be reimbursed anything. If an owner can not be

found to pay 1/2 price a lesser amount of entry will be offered.

In the event of illness or trajedy the team will be handed

back over to the original owner once the league is notified of their circumstances

and the team hadn't already been sold.

Tanking games. Any owner that wishes to intentionally tank a game or set of games will

subject to a league vote for expulsion, majority owner vote. The team will be handled

the same as an inactive owner and if sold, the expelled without a refund.

Improper use of the IR spot. Any owner fielding a team at start up of the first game of

the week having a player that was not listed as "OUT" on the official NFL IR report that

came out of Wednesday (For 1st game start thursday games) or Friday ( for 1st game

start Sunday games) will be penalized 20 points and the commish will promptly move the

player in question to the teams active roster and undo any pickups made for the roster

spot vacated by moving the illegal player to IR.

Team Stacking, Dropping high calibur players, Loaning players only to trade the same ones back

will be treated the same as the Tanking games clause.

Starting bye week players. Any team wishing to start a bye week player, due to lack of

talent in the FA pool, or fear of getting negative points with a FA , or just

plain forgot to pick someone up is permissable, SO LONG as you make your intent or explanation

known to the league. No explanation a by the start of the 1st game and you team will be

penalized 20 points for that weeks contest.

No lineup set. If a team forgets to set his lineup, the previous weeks lineup will be used.

If any player is on bye in that lineup will be treated as the previous bylaw states, 20 point

deduction for that weeks contest.

Trades

Trading deadline is Week 10 (redraft leagues)

No trading deadline in keeper or dynasty leagues.

Trading of future draft picks is not allowed in redraft leagues. Keeper leagues may trade future draft picks on ONE condition, both parties must submit 1/2 payment for the next seasons entry fee. Dynasty League- see keeper rules. If any owner paying 1/2 entry fee does not return, a new owner will be granted their spot for 1/2 price and no refund is to be given.

Trading players for Blind Bidding money is permitted.

Only trades consummated on the hosting sites are valid. Accepting a deal verbally or by email will not be recognized as acceptance by the

commish.

Teams that are mathematically eliminated from the playoffs are restricted from trading in redraft leagues.

All trades will be processed by the commissioner and approved. Only trades the appear to be of a colluded type will be rejected. If a

trade is rejected by the commish, the league will vote of the trade. A majority of owners is needed to approve the trade. Once a trade has

been voted down, the same trade will not be permitted to be reviewed again, it will simply be vetoed by the commish.

Trades must stand for a minimum of 2 weeks, 2 owners are not permitted to trade the same players back and fourth within a 2 week period.

Once a trade is processed it is final. Each owner will be responsible to make sure they offer or accept the deal. If a trade is offered by

mistake, please email league with that notice and it will be reversed, ONLY if done so within 10 minutes of original offer. If trade is accepted by

mistake, same goes, email league within 10 minutes of mistake and it will be reversed. No other exception is to be made. All trades are final, unless

an owner submits an email to the entire league of his/her mistake within 10 minutes of their offer or their acceptance. A poor trade or a trade

made in error are not grounds for collusion. If an error is made and 10 minutes have passed, the trade may be reversed if both parties agree

to the error with 5 hours of the acceptance.

My first thought...

If an owner is getting booted for misconduct, there is no need for that owner to recoup monies. When they enter into a league, other people are depending on their participation for fair play. The money they invest should be as much if an insurance policy for that as it is an entry fee.

If an owner is delinquent because of tragedy or some other unforseeable circumstance, then I wouldn't expect the league to give that owner the boot, anyways. At most I would think a proxy owner would be appropriate.
