Dr. Rock
Tirico just said there's a way that the Giants can win their last 2 games and not get into the playoffs. I didn't catch all of the details, but he said that if specific things happen, the Giants could be 9-7 but the Eagles, Cowboys, and Falcons would be the 3 teams who win the East/are the two wild cards. The Giants are 7-7. The Falcons are 7-7. The Giants beat the Falcons straight up. How is that possible?
Grits and Shins
I believe I heard on the radio that the Falcons are out
Los Gigantes
if its a 3 way tie, its group head to head.
montster
i just listened to it again. he said atlanta would have to win twice, philly beat dallas and dallas beat detroit.
Dr. Rock
i just listened to it again. he said atlanta would have to win twice, philly beat dallas and dallas beat detroit. Which would mean: DAL: 10-6 ATL: 9-7 NYG: 9-7 PHI: 9-7 Dallas would win the East. Here's the 3 way tiebreaker: 1. Head-to-head (best won-lost-tied percentage in games among the clubs). .667 = NYG would be 2-1 (beat ATL, split with PHI) .333 = PHI would be 1-2 (lost to ATL, split with NYG) .500 = ATL would be 1-1 (lost to NYG, beat PHI) Seems to me Philly would be out. Los Gigantes
but in a situation like that, the divisional tie is broken first...
montster
but in a situation like that, the divisional tie is broken first... los gigantes is correct. according to nfl.com: TO BREAK A TIE WITHIN A DIVISIONIf, at the end of the regular season, two or more clubs in the same division finish with identical won-lost-tied percentages, the following steps will be taken until a champion is determined. Two Clubs 1. Head-to-head (best won-lost-tied percentage in games between the clubs). 2. Best won-lost-tied percentage in games played within the division. philly is 4-1, giants are 3-2 in the division. a philly win over dallas gives the eagles the tiebreaker over the giants.
