Savage Beatings
The Gophers are re-enforcing a loosely held guideline about playing teams with offensive nicknames. They will continue to play the UND Sioux in hockey games, but no other sports. This will make it extremely difficult for North Dakota to make the move up to Division I unless they change their nickname. Here's the article in the Star Tribune. Hard to believe people are offended by the use of an Indian name. That's sad. If anyone has a complaint shouldn't it be the Irish people since Notre Dame calls themselves the Fighting Irish. As a catholic should I be offended by the New Orleans Saints or the Padres? Edited December 20, 2006 by Rockerbraves
