Fantasy Football week 17

Most leagues have the fantasy playoffs during weeks 14-16, week 16 being the Super Bowl. So what does your league make of week 17?

The league I'm in is planning on starting something interesting and fun, which is what we consider our league 'Pro Bowl', pitting one Conference's best fantasy players against the other Conference's best fantasy players. It's just for fun, but I was wondering how other leagues handle this last week, especially because it's a long off-season so we might as well get one more interesting game out of the last week in football.

Our total prize pool gets pretty large since, in addition to a hefty entry fee, we charge a fee for all in-season transactions (free agents/trades), so the total ching gets pretty nice! Since the Super Bowl winner inevitably gets a nice fat slice, we decided to award a weekly cash prize each week to the team with the highest weekly point total. It isn't much, but its worth playing for.

Also, we award a pretty substantial prize for the total points champ. Not as much as the Super Bowl winner, but a decent sum.

Both of these factors keep it interesting and worth playing for through Week 17.

Another league has a pretty cool concept. They make Week 17 their Pro Bowl Week. Each owner posts their best starting line-up, but they get to choose from the entire NFL, not just their roster. The person that selects the highest-scoring team gets a c-note.

Office - League Champion and positions are done by week 16. Week 17 is for total points award, which is the transactions pot - it costs $1.00 to add/drop players. To date the pot is at around $172.00 not bad if you had bad luck in head to head matchups but still come up in total points.

We take it completely off, but each owner submits a single team from their regular season roster for the entire NFL playoffs. Scored like Smackbowl, the top 2 scorers get $100. When drafting before the season, if it is a tossup between 2 players, you will lean toward the player on the better team for this reason. Usually, only 4-5 owners have a legitimate shot and the same amount can field an entire lineup.

We play a full regular 17-week season. This year week 17 will likely decide who goes into the postseason. For our post season, we switch to an salary-cap style lineup where anyone is available and players who were on our regular roster are 1/2 price.

We LOCK ONE player from our regular L/U that no one can touch, after those are submitted you pick from all the leftovers. $10 a person.. Trust me, there will be some funny LOCKS. One guy locked his kicker and the guy kicked 3 bombs (our league is big play heavy) and one year when I won it I picked up Steve Beurliein or Delhomme (names that would stump THOSE SPELLING BEE kids so don't expect me to get them right) and he threw for 400+..

The guy you lock ONLY YOU can use him.. so LT looks pretty sweet UNLESS he sits out a half.. Lotta strategy involved.. OH, and alot of LUCK as always

Our playoffs are weeks 14-17. Weeks 14 and 15 make up 1 game, (2 weeks worth of points for each team), and weeks 16 and 17 are our superbowl. Yes, I am in the superbowl this year (thanks LT :D , was lucky enough to get the 3rd overall pick this draft and SA and LJ want 1 and 2). Anyone else do this two week combined score thing?

10 out of 11 leagues are done after week 16. The other league has a redraft for a starting lineup with the prize money being 25% of our transaction money. It's actually pretty fun since you are drafting for one game and you know your matchups etc.

This actually seemed like one of the other fun ideas to consider, but it seems like a lot of work for one week of play. How many days does it take your league to get through a full draft before week 17 games begin? Another factor to consider is that the games start on Thursday (one game at least), so you really don't have a big window to get through with a full draft. Seems like a great idea though. :D

We'll be playing our superbowl - we play em all.

We play them all as well. Week 17 is our position week, 1 vs 2, 3 vs 4, etc. but the final standings are still determined by overall won/lost record for the season.

In one league local $ league, week 17 we talk about next year and don't do anything FFL-wise. In the other, a 3 division 12-team league, we play a divisional allstar game. Each division cobbles together a lineup from the teams in it and play a doubleheader game. The two divisions that lose the allstar game pay the webhosting costs the following year. Not much $ of course but it gives us all an excuse to hit "refresh" on the live scoring site of one's choosing choice for another week. And that ain't alll bad.. :D
