Unfortunately they underachieved almost every year before that. You can't recruit at Minnesota. No one wants to come play at the big inflatable toilet. The Gophers were also becoming nationally recognized for massive, almost unbelievable, chokes. Here in Minnesota, the chokes were becoming expected. Â He had to go. I just woulda got rid of him after last season, not after losing 2 great o linemen, and a stud rb, plus others, and then say, look he sucks. Who they gonna get? They do have the new stadium in a couple years, so the Metro Dome can't be used as an excuse anymore, although it was a big excuse.
