jlie13
Does anyone think that Washington will trade the often injured Clinton Portis? With Ladell Betts showing that he can carry the load and be a #1 in the league what will they do? Betts signed a 5 yr deal that makes him very inexpensive on the cap. Portis on the other hand has a big tag and hasn't produced. What are your thoughts, do they deal him for a draft pick?
DMD
He is signed through the 2008 season so the Skins would take a cap charge for 2 years if they got rid of Portis. I would suspect that Portis returns and thanks to the success of Betts, we have yet another RBBC in the league.

Ursa Majoris
I would suspect that Portis returns and thanks to the success of Betts, we have yet another RBBC in the league. For most teams, i.e. those lacking a Tomlinson, SJax, Gore or Johnson, RBBC is the way to go. I wonder if there will actually be 12 real primary backs in 2007, enough for one each for the first round of a redraft league.

Paid $110 for him (we have a $300 cap) and the "Big 3" backs usually go for $160. Very happy with this deal in light of the post above...I agree 100%. muck
IF ... Washington were inclined to move either him or Betts, who would be buyers of Portis? Houston? Green Bay? Tampa Bay? ...Denver?
Randall
IF ... Washington were inclined to move either him or Betts, who would be buyers of Portis? Houston? Green Bay? Tampa Bay? ...Denver? Green Bay wouldn't do it. TT wants to build teams mostly through the draft.

This year I'd really like to see then land either Lynch or Laundry from LSU.
jlie13
Redskins should dump their inflated salary in Portis and go with Betts. They could easily get a #2 pick in this years draft
kraftykraft
Since I have keeper rights to Ladell Betts, I hope that the Skins do trade Portis. But even with a weak free agent RB crop and a not too great class of RBs coming out of college, I am not sure if anyone will bite given Portis' contract. Riffraff
They could easily get a #2 pick in this years draft RBs rarely command value in draft picks. Especially injured RBs. It's an easy position to fill through the draft or via free agency.
skins
Never happen. Guy set franchise record for rushing yards last year and will restructure his contract if necessary, I believe.

Jamal lost a lot after that many carries. I wonder if LJ will. More specialists I would guess.
Big Score 1
Clinton Portis has only played 25% of his $50 million contract with a $17 million signing bonus so there would be an immediate accelerated cap hit to the Skins in the $12-$13 million dollar range for trading him. Wolverines Fan
IF ... Washington were inclined to move either him or Betts, who would be buyers of Portis? Houston? Green Bay? It seems like something Millen would do.

This is from msn sports News: The Lions are reportedly not interested in drafting a running back, quarterback, or wide receiver in the first round of the 2007 NFL Draft. Impact: Kevin Jones (foot) is reportedly on track for Week 1 and Detroit will target Clemson DE Gaines Adams to play opposite James Hall, or Wisconsin's Joe Thomas, who'd presumably play right tackle or guard instead of moving Jeff Backus. An inside linebacker is another possibility at No. 2. (Thu. Jan 4, 2007)

If Millen drafted another receiver, I think the Lions faithful would burn Ford Field down.

jlie13
There is no way this is true. I don't believe it , if Jones is healthy he is a perfect fit for this offense. I know you might call me crazy but the Lions are my sleeper team next year (if Martz stays). If they address OL and make a few defensive moves..watch out..greatest show on Turf pt
