Need help for tonight's dinner.

Gonna do a basic spinach/steak salad, but I wanted to make my own dressing/glaze or whatever for it.

I was thinking something using balsamic vinegar as the base would be good as it brings out good flavor that works well with a spinach salad.

So, I could use some help on what to use with the balsamic to make a.) dressing for the salad and b.) marinade for the steak, if I should marinade the steak in a balsamic base before grilling.

Tenative plan is that I was going to come up with some marinade for the steak, perhaps a balsamic, honey, garlic, pepper mix, something to that affect, and grill it medium rare.

Salad would basically be spinach and tomatoes with the steak, (suggestions on other veggies to add in there).

For the dressing, I figured either a simple olive oil and balsamic vinagrette, or, if I got some ideas on something that I could make, maybe a warm dressing, that I would go that route.

So, I turn it over to you all for some suggestions on ingredients that I should consider for the marinade, dressing and addition to the salad.

Thanks in advance.

i'm in a nyquil haze right now.... so i'm just doing free association...

spinach salad- 1st throught was a warm bacon vinaigrette. if not you are fine going with a honey/blasamic vinaigrette. another thought was seared goat cheese crostini, bacon bits, sauted mushrooms.

marinade- minced shallot, garlic, oil, balsamic, thyme, oregano
