Danger Awaits

:D This article is exactly what I was talking about when I got lambasted for being the biggest homer since UT. :bash:

It is not that I disrespect the Ravens, I just think that out of all the playoff teams, the Pats are the most dangerous, not the best, most dangerous.

IF the Chargers get past the Pats, I think what they take from that game will propel them into the Superbowl. The Pats D is just about as stingy as the Ravens and McNair is no Brady (though he does have a lot of post-season experience as well).

It should be a great weekend of playoff football. Enjoy everyone! :D

Don't be going into this game afraid. I'm really looking forward to facing NE. If we can't stop the likes of Caldwell, Brown, and Gaffney at WR then we don't deserve to go anywhere.

And their secondary is nothing special either. If we control the defensive line of scrimmage and stop the run I expect a solid win.

I would never disrespect Brady but I'll be very disappointed if we don't get the job done. These aren't the Patriots of old.

Two things

1- Belichick

2- Playoff experience

I do not "fear" the Pats. I just think that they will be the hardest test for the Chargers. You know that Belichick will have something for Rivers to deal with.

I do think Rivers will be able to handle the pressure better than most think he will. I also think we can get to Brady in ways most teams can't. Their run game is not the greatest and we should shut that down.

Solid, and poised is what they are, and the Chargers will have to match that. The Pats are 12-4 for a reason. They were very much under the radar this year. They accomplished what they did unspectacularly, but efficiently. I do think the Chargers have more "nasty" than the Pats.

Both teams are very efficient at what they do. Hopefully we will be able to control the tempo. Our defense can match up better than most teams if they go to a no-huddle and our big O-line can wear them down if we do the same.

It will be a great game to watch from the coaching/strategy point of view! I can't wait! :D

Lets just say, as good as SD has been, I wouldnt bet against any of the remaining 3 teams coming into SD and beating the Bolts. I think they win, but all 3 teams left can certainly beat SD, as all 3 have better Qb play than the Bolts, and 2 of the 3 play as good, if not better D.

as i recall, the last time the Pats went on the road in the playoffs they lost in Denver.

being on the road ain't like being at home. its not everything but taking them out of Foxboro hurts them.

i wouldn't have it any other way than to go through the Patriots. this is gonna be fun!

It will be intersesting to see what NE comes up with to stop/slow down LT and contain the pass rush. :D:D

and it'll be interesting to see what SD does to contain Gaffney......

Should/hopefully be a great game as should the other AFC game.

:bash:

Pats matchup against SD very well. NE has a great run defense, so stopping LT is first priority. Brady and Bellichick record in the post season can't be ignored. Marty post-season record can not be ignored either. NE beat themselves last year in Denver, NE was moving the ball against Denver all game. This should be a good game but don't be suprise if the Pats win this game.

The Pats won 28-3 at home in the wildcard round last year and then were beaten 27-13 by Denver when NE had to play a road game in the divisional round.

Ask yourself these questions:

1. Is this NE team better than 2005 when Branch was still there?

2. Is SD 2006 better than DEN 2005?

3. Is Rivers better than Plummer?

4. Is Tomlinson better than Mike Anderson?

5. Is Gates better than Jeb Putzier?

Branch had 153 yards on 8 caches in that game, Givens had 54 yards and the lone NE TD. Andre Davis was third with 51 yards. The only WR still on NE is Troy Brown with 33 yards on one catch.

This is a more dangerous NE team?

Right, the Pats have only played in 2 road games in the playoffs in the last 4 years and beat PIT in 2004 and lost to Denver in 2005. One of the features of the Pats lengthy playoff runs have been so many home games.

I truely believe, SD hasn't beaten any good teams this year. Marty ball will go 1 and done again!

UT is that you?

If so... :D GO AWAY

1. Overall - Yes. Better running attack, Better D, healthier in general, less talent in the WR corps.

2. definitely

3. slightly

4. see #2

5. see #2

If SD controls the clock and Rivers doesn't make mistakes then I admitted that SD will be hard to beat. If NE controls LT, doesn't turn the ball over and makes the most of their red zone chances (which I believe the Chargers are weak at) then they take it.

Either way I think/hope it'll be a great game!! :D

Who was SD toughest opponent they play this year? Its Baltimore and they lost. I think Baltimore is the best team in the NFL. I predict a Balt and NE Championship game. NE's DE line will slow down LT and Rivers will be scared to see what Bellichick does. Plus Marty Ball doesn't win playoff games and well all know what the Pats do in the post season.

You mean like when SD beat the Broncos in Denver 35-27 and won 48-20 against the visiting Broncos while the Pats lost to DEN in NE 7-17??

without question. they won 12 games, for one thing. i believe last year's squad won 9 or 10? their running game is better this year with the addition of maroney, but most importantly their defense is back. last year their secondary was getting torched routinely. this year they are vastly improved.

i hope SD wins, and i think they have a slightly better than 50/50 shot of doing so. but they are definitely going to have their hands full.

SD had two losses all year. In Baltimore early before we let Rivers loose, and in KC after we staged a great comeback to tie it. Both loses were last second and on the road.

We're at home.

NE lost to the Jets at home. And NE got embarrassed by the Dolphins this year.

SD came from behind a few times this year to win. Rivers is young but he's a terrific leader.

I don't think NE has the offence (especially vs. our pass rush and run defense with Castillo healthy) to get it done.

And what was so especially difficult about NE's sked compared to SD's?
