Commisioners question......

I wasn't going to post this, but I just can't figure this one out. I won the championship in one of my leagues, and the guy I beat is a self proclaim strict rules guy. He congratulated me for winning, but included a statement about a rule that very well could've changed the outcome of the championship.

The rule states "Once your last player for the week starts, no changes are allowed to your rosters from that point until the first Tuesday at 6:00pm following that weekend's action." So I replace Pennington with Kitna for week 17 and made the move at 11:11 AM on Tuesday.

Again, I won, but I just don't get it. For the life of me, I can't figure out why this is even a rule. What difference does it make if you change a player after the games are over? Thoughts?

BTW, it is a CBS league.

That rule has no bearing on the week's results and quite frankly while I usually defer to rules, that one doesn't make much sense - especially when you are using a relatively unreliable service like CBS.

Sounds like sour grapes to me to throw that in at the end of his congratulations.

Just out of curiosity, what is the reason the rule was even written the way it was in the first place?

Could be an injury report issue.

However, all leagues with FCFS waivers need a "start" tiime for it so everyone is on same page. What's odd is that you have a rule of 6pm, but that wasn't put in the website "calendar" since you were able to do at 11 am.

I just re-read the rule & XMR's comment. It made me think what FCFS has to do with submitting a lineup with players already on your roster - and the answer is that one has nothing to do with the other.

It states no changes are allowed to your roster.

That mean to me that you can't add or drop players until 6:00 PM. That has nothing to do with setting a starting lineup - and you didn't change your roster.

Now it really sounds like sour grapes, that the guy may be a FF lawyer and a jerk also.

That's what's so screwed up about this. Apparently, the Commish. wants to be able to monitor waivers as well as give everyone an equal change to add/drop, hence the 6:00 PM Tues. rule. Okay, I'll buy that, but why the hell can't I change my own lineup until after 6:00 PM on Tues? That one is beyond me.

We have a get together in a couple of weeks. I can't wait to find out the reasoning behind this one.

That's why what you are doing is not a roster move - it is a lineup move. You didn't change your roster at all - you still have the same players on your roster at 6:00 as you did at 11:00 on Tuesday. A lineup change is an internal movement within your own team. A roster move indicates movement of a player from outside of your team being placed on your roster (an add), or you adding a player that was formerly on your roster to the FA pool (a drop).

It sounds like the rule is being misinterpretted - by a freakin' FF lawyer who couldn't resist the opportunity to imply that you somehow used an unfair advantage (which you obviously didn't) to beat him.

Ahh - yea, I misread what this was about. Think the guy is f'd in the head and is misreading what is a waiver rule about a lineup rule

Heck, you can set your lineup for week 10 in my league in week 5 if you want....never seen a beginning deadine for lineup submittal
