dabuffbills
Now that all the bowl games are over and underclassmen have entered the draft, who is the first pick?
Menudo
Who it will be: Jemarcus Russell Who it should be: Calvin Johnson

Bronco Billy
yea but he hasn't proved that he can win the big games Yeah, but he's got a Charlie Weiss pedigree, and that will mean a lot at the next level.

whitem0nkey
I watch college casually, and I saw Brady Quinn play about 3 games, I don’t get the hype. Is he really that good?
Caveman_Nick
Way to early to say. The combine tells all.
Men In Tights
Brady Quinn - Remember it's the Raiders !!! I don't know much about Brady Quinn but he doesn't seem like a Raider guy. He seems like way to decent a guy to play for that team.
Sgt. Ryan
Oakland will botch the pick as they usually do, and take Russell. Who will eat himself into a starting OL by 2010.
kpholmes
Way to early to say. The combine tells all. +1 But Russell will still come out on top. I don't think the Raiders are confident in taking another OL high in the first... That will be a big fear for a long time; compliments of Robert Gallery. alexgaddis
I doubt Calvin Johnson will go 1st but all I keep hearing everywhere is how special this kid is going to be at the next level...ala Randy Moss in his early years...

That will be a big fear for a long time; compliments of Robert Gallery. I heard/read somewhere recently that part of the problem (as this person perceived it) with Robert Gallery is that in his first 5 seasons he has seen 3 head coaches, 5 offensive coordinators, 5 starting QBs, and no consistency enywhere in the offense. I dunno if that's a big lump of excuse, but I wouldn't mind seeing him in NE to see wat he can really do in a cohesive line scheme.
Rockerbraves
Watched JaMarcus play at LSU. He's still raw but this kid has the best arm in all of football. He can throw 50+ yards with a flick of the wrist yet has great touch. Like his size as well at 6' 6" 260 lbs. should allow him to stay in the pocket and still see down field. And trust me, a receiver won't have to slow down if he gets behind coverage even if it's 60 yards down field.

dabuffbills
I think the Raiders need consistency at QB before they start to worry about their receivers
Bronco Billy
I watch college casually, and I saw Brady Quinn play about 3 games, I don’t get the hype. Is he really that good? He can make all the pro throws, though his long vertical throws may be a little soft. Extremely accurate in the short to mid-range throws. Creative, good pocket presence. Enough legs to escape. Weiss-trained, which means he's been worked up very well in his decision making/vision/aniticpation/progression, which means he's probably more pro-ready than any QB in the draft. The guy ought to be a very good pro QB, whether you like or hate ND. Will he be better than Russell? Who knows. Montana couldn't throw a ball through a brick wall, but he sure put the ball where it had to be.

But I can't believe that the guy can't learn simple blocking schemes, he has gotten worse each year. I think it's just a classic case of a "can't miss" draft prospect being an NFL mediocre-at-best talent.

The Vatican Hitsquad
I think the Raiders need consistency at QB before they start to worry about their receivers Agreed, and we need consistancy on that line before we can expect results from a QB. I think they shoud draft a QB and go HEAVY on FA-OL.
The Vatican Hitsquad
I think it's a case of the entire Raider's offense sucking too much Just the OL and QB... heh, "just"... makes even me laugh at the sound of that...

muck
Combine, campus workouts and team workouts will dictate a ton between now and the draft. Heck, where was Mario Williams at this time last year? A top 10-15 pick, maybe?
