This is to settle a bet, so, I'm looking for your honest opinion. Who would win the most times if they played 10 times.

Gotta be South Florida. Road win over West Virgina to finish the season tops the Penn St bowl win over Tennessee. It's too bad they got screwed (like Rutgers) with such a crap matchup against East Carolina. They deserved better.

How about their 21-20 victory over an 0-11 Florida International. Or, their 13-7 loss to Kansas.

easy one..... South Florida :D wow, what a matchup

I have never seen South Florida play, but based on the Slow 10 as a conference this year,

I lean to South Florida.

As a Penn State fan all I heard is how Tennessee was going to run them out of the building. It didn't happen. We understand that you hate the Big 10, but, you take it just a tad too far.

Ancient history. The same can be said for the pounding Notre Dame gave PSU early on. Not saying it wouldn't be an interesting game, but right here, right now, I give South Florida a slight edge.

If you already know the answer, then why ask the question? :D

Seriously, though... Tell me why Penn State would beat South Florida? I'm assuming nuetral field? Penn St. had a tougher schedule, but they didn't exactly do anything with it until Tennessee. You can't write home with too much excitement about big wins over Akron, Temple, and 1-AA YSU.

South Florida got beat on the last play of the Rutgers game and late in the second half vs. Louisville. Then they beat West Virginia on the road in Morgantown. No argument they started weak, but they finished strong. How many teams have walked into a top 10 WV house at season end and kicked them in nads?

Right now at season end, I would give them a small edge over Penn State.

I don't hate the Big 10 - I call it like I see it. I was joking about USF - but the Big East was the better conference, and Junkyard now has me convinced with a nice argument.

USF 24

Penn State 13

:D If you don't think you have a bias against the Big Ten, you are clearly in denial. You are apparently an Arizona Wildcats fan, yet, you've been happier than a pig in sh!t on these boards over the Michigan and Ohio State losses. Acting like those games negate everything that was done during the season and ignoring the nice wins by Penn State and Wisconsin.

As for the Big East as a better overall conference, give me a break. Yes, they went 5-0 in bowls, but, they played in junk bowls and beat nobody.

maybe a little - grew up a UW fan and Pac 10 guy - so we have had some battles in the Rose Bowl. But, I seriously give props to good teams bc I love college football. I was rooting for OSU v Miami a few years ago- and I just think the Big 10 was unusally piss poor this year. They played NO ONE NC, outside of an average UT. They didnt't bring it this year. The BE is underrated, and had some good clubs. After these bowl games - I would put LU,WVU,RU up against OSU/MICH/UW every day and twice on Sunday.

Fair enough, but, you do realize that the 'average' Tennessee team that Penn State beat hammered California, right ??? :D

The Big Ten wasn't as deep this year, I'll give you that. After Ohio State, Michigan, Wisconsin, Penn State, & Purdue, there was a hugh dropoff. Depth used to be the strength of the Big Ten, and, no dobut, it was a down year.

However, Ohio State and Michigan were very good teams. They just didn't show up well in their bowl games.

As for the Big East, they are getting better and hopefully will start getting respect, but, their inconsistency is what kills them.

Louisville loses to Rutgers

Rutgers gets hammered by Cincy and nipped by WV

Cincy loses to Pitt

Pitt loses to Conneticut and South Flordia

South Florida is hammered by Cincy

....and on and on it goes. I would say that this shows depth, but, then a team like South Florida gets a 1 point win against Fla. International and loses to Kansas. Cincy was destroyed by VA Tech and Ohio State. Conneticut gets hammered by Navy....... etc. I think the league is coming around, but, needs to show more consistency.

First game of the year by Cal. Clearly, a different game in December.

For the record, the Big East, could not have ASKED for an easier bowl schedule. I will submit that the Big Ten was very average this year, but will not submit it was worse than the Big East. I'll go to my grave on that one. The Big Ten probably had the toughest bowl slate out of any conference. Had to play 3 SEC teams, enough said, and my Hawkeyes (9th place in the Big Ten) played Texas in Texas, and the Horns survived by the skin of their a$$. I think the SEC and Pac 10 both proved to be superior, with very convincing wins by their champions over our top 2 teams. Our 3 and 4 teams flat out brung it, and won games that they were both underdogs in. Again... compare the competition that the Big Ten faced in bowls vs what the Big East faced. Their champion draws Wake Forrest, easily the worst of the BCS teams... WVU had the toughest draw vs Ga Tech, and they took them to the wire. Rutgers faced a 6-6 Kansas State team. Now I grant you, that these teams took care of business, but you're honestly gonna tell me that if you sent Louisville to face Florida, WVU to face USC, and Rutgers to face Arkanasas, that they do any better? Or maybe you want to go deeper than that? South Florida vs Tennesseee? Cincy vs Texas?

About as right on as you could get :D
