Czarina
There's just so many ways I could answer this...I don't know where to start.

No, the "gutsiest" season I've ever seen did not even involve the PO, it was when the Panthers started 1-7 and rallied to finish 7-9 by going on a 6-2 run-now that was by far the "gutsiest" football season I have witnessed. The time to give the Jets props would've been 2 weeks ago (when everyone else was) not now since they've been knocked out of the playoffs. whomper
I had given the Jets their props in the playoff thread last week..I do think the Jets will play some meaningful football in the years to come..My only reservation is the fact that they played a very soft schedule..It sort of reminds me of the first year Parcells took over in Dallas when Quincy Carter was QB..We had come off a string of bad years and had a soft schedule . We played above our heads and squeaked out a play off bid..Lost in round 1..The next year when the schedule got a little tougher they had a setback..These next few years will obviously tell the tale but they have some great young talent and Mangini seems to have the goods..Its a step in the right direction for sure.. Yanxbolts
I'm sorry - but regardless of what happens in the remaining games - the New York Jets are this years top story

The Jets had a nice season for a team with many weaknesses, but hardly the stuff of history...

Totally agree with PD here it's not close the Saints are the best story!!!

Heck, Jeff Garcia's step in alone is a more interesting story than the Jets going from mediocre to nearly good.
JetFanMike
As a Jet fan, I was happy with the season -- they played better, and were far more entertaining than under Herm Edwards. That being said, they played a pretty easy schedule, and snuck up on some teams and had a few breaks -- at this point, looking ahead to next season, I'd be happy with a .500 record. More importantly, they've got a good coach, two studs at the two most important offensive line positions, and Mike Nugent looks like he may end up being worth his early selection. And this year's record means they don't get that top 5 draft pick that I might have predicted for them back in August. But yes, nice season, going in the right direction, but not QUITE as good a story as the Saints.

Czarina
Agreed that the Saints are the story of the year. They're also still in the playoffs. The Jets did well, faced some adversity with injuries (but then, all teams do). Mangini had a very good first season as HC and the Jets' prospects are definitely looking up for the future. Gutsiest all time?
