Omaha Steaks

The only way that I buy them in in combo packs that are on special. One really cool thing is that if they have a combo pack with something in that combo that you don't want, they will trade it out for something that you do want. Check the website becuase the stores don't always have the same specials but the stores will honor anything that you print out from the web.

I am always happy with the meat and have never had anything bad. I am really happy with the way they are vacuum sealed. Makes storage very nice.

Anytime you freeze a steak it losses some of it's flavor. You are better off going down to your local butcher or COSCO (they always have Choice grade or Prime... and you can freeze your leftovers) . IMHO. I just picked up some Choice NY's at Cosco for $6.99 a Lb. and they were tasty! I hate freezing the leftovers, but with beef prices going up in the next few weeks I'll take my chances!

Agreed Cosco is the way to go. If you don't freeze them and marinate them for about 45 minutes before sticking them on the grill they are awesome.

Never had anything from Omaha.

I generally do BJ's Warehouse Club and get a big ol' ribeye roast for about $6 lb. I can generally get about 18 - 20 steaks. The nice thing is I can slice thinner steaks for the wife. Keep a few out for the first weekend and then FoodSaver the rest in the freezer.

You pay a premium for Omaha Steaks and they are kinda worth it. If you want the very best in meats (and are willing to pay for it) the you need to order from Lobels.

It's not a bad deal, but a 5 oz. filet is pretty small. I prefer an 8 oz. cut myself.

It's still an average of almost $10 per pound for the meat. Expensive compared to the supermarket...

Hmmmm. You got a pound of hamburger [4 (4 oz.) Omaha Steak Burgers], 8 hot dogs (Gourmet Franks), 2 small stuffed soles, 4 pork chops, 2 little crappy sirloins, and 2 petite filets.

I don't think it's a rip off but it's not a great deal either.

Last time for some reason my steaks sucked. Marinated and everything but the steak that looked great turned into 95% grizzle. As for price I think it was around $39 for 3 11 oz. :D

I think we're going to pass. Maybe if we get one in the summer the splurge might be worth it.

The wife went into their store, took a look at the meat (it was brown w/ freezer burn) and walked out.

She also said it's not prime or choice!
