When did the Super Bowl go back to two weeks from the Conference Champ games?

 

After the 2001 season.

 

There was 1 week that year and after the games were pushed back 1 week after 9/11, there was a big problem getting the Super Bowl pushed back a week as the Superdome was booked the following week for aa auto convention, and the NFL paid the convention set there for that time a few million dollars to move theirs a week ahead (to when the Super Bowl) was to be held.

 

So they changed it back to 2 weeks in case of another case where the games need to be pushed back and not move the SB date.

I guess I do remember that. My room in New Orleans got cancelled because the Super Bowl got pushed back that week. I was supposed to be there the week after.
