slickvick Posted January 18, 2007 Share Posted January 18, 2007 A co worker of mine is selling squares for the private Catholic school his daughters attend at $20.00 a whack.They keep half and award the other half.The coaches for the girls varsity softball team in the public side are doing the same.I am going to buy a $20 square.I have never seen Superbowl squares used as fund raisers in this capacity.Does anyone think they are going too far with this? Thx for reminding us how Fenwick HS is spokesman for the RCC and all Catholics everywhere follow their lead. Try to learn at least a little about something before you rip on it. FYI gambling itself is not forbidden by the RCC. The anal-retentative Baptists may be another story To answer the question, no I don't think it's going too far, at least based on the info given. Talked to the parent selling these squares today and the school is allowing it but telling them to kind of keep it on the down low,whatever that means.The superintendent has said that any teacher caught selling squares would immediately be terminated. The Holy Roller Posted January 20, 2007 Share Posted January 20, 2007 When I was 14 I bought ONE 25 cent ticket from a neighborhood friend who was selling them for the local Catholic elementary raffle. Needless to say I won the raffle ($100) the next week. Took a day off school and went and bought hockey sticks for the whole gang. God Bless you Catholic game of chance promoters.
