Giants :: QB

QB E. Manning To Air It Out In 2007?

Ralph Vacchiano, New York Daily News -

New OC Kevin Gilbride has seen enough of QB Eli Manning in three seasons as his quarterbacks coach to come to this decision: In 2007, he's going to let Manning air it out. That's what he promised yesterday when he was officially introduced as the Giants' new offensive coordinator. Gilbride was not happy with the results of the Giants' downfield passing attack under former OC John Hufnagel. And he said there's too much big-play potential on the Giants' offense to let it all go to waste. "I expect the ball to go down the field more than it did this year," said HC Tom Coughlin.

Deeper. Can he throw it deep with accuracy?

He throws a pretty good deep ball. They may be expecting Sinorice Moss to help stretch the field. I think the real problem is his accuracy on the short and intermediate throws. They are too often a little high or behind the receivers. Would be nice if Plax and Shockey were to spend some time in the voluntary camps working on the timing routes....

I think Eli throws a better deep ball than he does a short one. He has a real bad habit of trying to aim the ball to Shockey and especially Plax. He overthrows these guy a lot. With the deep ball, he just lets it fly.

Maybe it was a prediction - "Eli to err more next season" - which wouldn't be going out on too thin a limb, really.

Or maybe they're going to air out their dirty laundry more often next year. Start telling us what they think of their coaching staff. :D

:D Or maybe Eli will just think of himself more as the heir to his big brother's talent.
