smithkt
I thought about that last night, I feel bad for the guy. Why? He made a choice to secure his financial future rather than stay with a team which was much closer to making a Super Bowl.
isleseeya
Edge made his bed by taking money ....I will say colts did not try and stop him too hard ...
cdrudge
Why? He made a choice to secure his financial future rather than stay with a team which was much closer to making a Super Bowl.Yeah...because his financial future would have been so murky. I would love to be able to plan my financial future with just the difference in money between the two cities. I don't fault or blame James for leaving for more money. It's his decision and his alone. But I think if I were in his shoes I would trade some of that money for a much greater chance at the Super Bowl.

In no way was I implying he was going to have trouble feeding his family like T.O.
xMRogers
With Harrison and Manning's contracts, I don't believe they could pay him squat once his deal came up. Saying he 'chose money over a shot at the title' is a bit of a disservice to him - one thing to take a home team discount, completely another when the home team probably didn't give him even an offer. And he knew AZ wasn't a one year fix - I still like them to eventually fulfil that "sleeper" potential they've had the last two years. A lot of young talent on both sides of the ball. myhousekey
Talk about feeling bad.....when the Colts looked like they were gonna come up short again all I could think is no man will feel worse then Archie Manning after today.

keggerz
anyone catch what aikman said after the addai TD? something along the lines of "in years past they wouldnt(he might have said couldnt) have run that play"....something along those lines....well after he said it i took it as they wouldnt have run it because they didnt have faith in their running game, i was like Troy you forget about EDGE? Grits and Shins
I have no sympathy for Edge ... he wanted the biggest pay day he could get and went to the land where there is no running game. What did he expect. It is an affirmation of exactly what the Colts told him ... you can be replaced. He didn't believe them and now reality is slapping him in the face ... yes, he was indeed replaceable.

I believe Aikman was referring to how the Colts no longer rely as heavily on the pass in all situations but are more willing to run the ball. That was just an extension of what they had been discussing earlier in the game. In past years, the Colts would have passed on that final play which apparently is what the Pats were counting on. cdrudge
You think Addai is better then Edge right now ?I think Addai is not to that point, but he will be soon. He lacks the physical talents and the desire, he just doesn't have the experience yet. However I believe that Addai/Rhodes are a better pair then what James was individually. I'm not sure if Addai will ever be as good as Edge, but he's done an absolutely tremendous job of learning the offense and playing well in every single facet (especially pass-blocking). He's done everything that you can ask for in a rookie. My only concern is the number of minor injuries that he's suffered without carrying a full load. And I'm not sure that the Colts would've had the cap room to offer Edge any deal that would be even reasonable for a player of his stature. TheGrunt
I thought about that last night, I feel bad for the guy. Why feel bad for him? He had a choice between money and a possible Super Bowl. I have ZERO sympathy for him. I fail to understand why I should feel sorry for him since he made the conscious decision to put money before winning. Talk to Al Harris and Todd Bell. They held out for more money, the Bears let them hold out the entire season and won the Super Bowl.
