Its all true, about Butkus, and more. Singletary, great!!! Did anybody see Urlacher blow by everybody chasing Reggie Bush in the NFC Championship game.? That guy is sensational. Its great to be a Bears fan!

"Some say Urlacher is overrated; some say Singletary was not that great..."

...some, apparently, are f*cking morons.

Are you looking for an arguement??? :D

Not gonna get one from me. :D

Seriously, a good friend of mine, lifelong bears fan and season ticket holder told me that a few weeks ago! I couldn't believe I was hearing right, but he said it.

What the heck was his basis for that? I don't think it's heresy to admit he benefited by having two All-Pro DTs in front of him, but he was an absolute sideline-to-sideline force in his prime, not to mention the QB of the 46 defense, and a pretty class guy off-the-field.

Even when Mongo and Danimal left and his skills declined, he was a warrior whose heart and leadership were pretty evident.

Agree! I'm going to a SB party next week w/ him. I'll ask him to elaborate. I've known this guy since 2nd grade. He is a walking sports Wikipedia! Sox fan, :D but I don't hold that against him....well not much anyway. You have to hear his "Brian's Song" diatribe! But he is correct, though, about the many inaccuracy's the movie had. Such as the allusion that Pic and Sayers were drafted/joined the team the same year.

Butkus > Singletary > Urlacher

I always thought that Urlacher would've been a better OLB than MLB. The Bears apparently thought the same thing, as they drafted him as one. They said that he wasn't very good there (which I find difficult to believe) and moved him to the middle.

Anyway, Urlacher isn't as good as Ray Lewis was in his prime. And he's probably just a half tier better than Zach Thomas. Is he going to Canton? Perhaps. Overrated? No way.

singletary was amazing ...but his eyes :D and game face was not the most awe inspiring

Agreed...intense before the ball was snapped and as soon at it was, they took on a whole new level of intensity. A fiercely indimidating player and a class act off the field. IF I had to choose between the two, not being from Chicago and thus not watching many Bears games, Singletary gets my vote.

Urlacher is extremley good, but does not deserve to be compared to either of those guys. Urlacher, as far as the runninggame goes is only as good as his defensive tackles, he cant shake any blocks off of him. With that being said, he is the fastest, and in my opinion, most athletically gifted backer of all time. He'll get his chance at being an all time great in a year or two, when his body starts to wear down. In my opinion, thats when you can make the leap from being extremley good, to one of the greatest...

So i'm not calling him overrated.

Oh, and as far as running down Reggie Bush...

Remember, Bush was too busy looking behind him and taunting. No one in the league can run Bush down if he's not being a jackass.

Couldn't agree more. Once Bush crossed the Saints 30 yard line there was no hope of him being caught.
