Trade Rumor: CAR and DET

Panthers Like Brady?

There is some talk around the Senior Bowl that Panthers representatives showed a special interest in Quinn when he made his surprise appearance on Monday. John Fox and Notre Dame head coach Charlie Weis go way back and Carolina may be looking for 31-year-old Jake Delhomme's successor. Delhomme struggled in 2006, so Quinn could be starting by mid-season if Delhomme falters again, and the Panthers trade up in the first round.

Currently holding the No. 14 overall pick, Carolina would likely have to shop a Kris Jenkins or a Chris Gamble to move up the board, possibly dangling Gamble and their pick to Detroit at No. 2. Despite a rough Sugar Bowl, I can't see Quinn falling past Miami at No. 9.

------------------

As a Lions fan I would take that deal in a second. Martz says the Lions need "everything in the draft except a QB". Seems to me that Kitna heaved too many INTS to make a statement like but Martz says a lot of things.

I'd love to see this happen. Draft picks, quality players, whatever. The Lions need more than what the #2 overall can give them.

this looks like a good deal for both sides...im an nd fan...so im still high on quinn despite alot of naysayers

and for detroit...well everyone is talking joe thomas joe thomas...but if they can get another established/quality player(specially on defense) and slide to 14 and still land levi brown(whom i suspect is going to start to climb) it would be a boon

While I agree with your theory, I don't think that Levi Brown will fall to 14. I think he goes in the top 10. I'm not high on Quinn either, so I definately think that trading out of this pick would be smart, but not too far down.

I could see a trade happening with Detroit. They have said they don't need a new QB and I'm going to believe them for now. The only other options at that spot are Thomas and Johnson. Thomas would be a good and smart pick but we all know that Detroit management is neither. Johnson is a WR and to avoid a PR disaster they will steer clear of him. So I see someone trading up to get in front of a team who wants Johnson (Bucs at #3/4) or Thomas.
