rocknrobn26
Held in the home city of one of the participants? Did it ever happen? (Old timer's disease ) If so when? What kind of advantage is that? Reason I ask, Indy is looking at 2011! FWIW!!
Skippy
Not 100% on this but I think Pittsburgh played the LA Rams in LA. I don't know if it was where the Rams played week to week though.

That game was at the Rose Bowl. Pretty sure that is not where the Rams played week to week. Some help from someone that knows???
Big John
That game was at the Rose Bowl. Pretty sure that is not where the Rams played week to week. Some help from someone that knows??? Correct. The Rams played home games at LA Coliseum and at Anaheim, but never at the Rose Bowl. And no team has ever played in a Super Bowl in their home stadium. isleseeya
It is pretty amazing that in 41 years of sb , no team ever played the game at home
Big John
It is pretty amazing that in 41 years of sb , no team ever played the game at home 7 of those were in staduims that did not host a NFL team at that time - 5 in the Rose Bowl, 1 at Stanford Stadium (The 49ers played 1 home game there in 1989 after the earthquake), and 1 at Rice Stadium (The Oilers played there prior to the Astrodome opening, but the SB game was played well after that). NFL rules now state that only NFL stadiums are now eligable for the Super Bowl.

Not sure if the weather is all that great in Michigan during this time of the year, but with a capacity of 107,501 fans I can't see why not have a Super Bowl there.
