polksalet
ok, Iwatched less nfl this year than I have any year in the last 20. So tell me, why did the bears not play Griese? He was a proven commodity and Grossman has sounded horrible all year.
Bronco Billy
Grossman has pictures of Lovie, goats, and Snickers bars. That's the only reasonable solution. It sure as Hell isn't based upon performance.

This is complete speculation, but I think that Angelo pressured Lovie into playing HIS draft pick, despite the very clear signs that Rex doesn't read defenses well and makes poor decisions when his team is behind. gsmayes
Rex Grossman is our quarterback. We got to the Super Bowl with Rex Grossman as our quarterback.
Bill Swerski
Rex Grossman is our quarterback. We got to the Super Bowl with Rex Grossman as our quarterback. And they very well may have won if Chad Pennington or Jeff Garcia was their QB. One of our friends at our SB party last night is from Colombia and was telling us how people down there will literally murder soccer players who screw up in important matches. Good thing that Rex lives in the good old USA!

Ursa Majoris
Fixed Um....wasn't it you that said Grossman would be better than Manning in the Superbowl?
Furd
When Chicago fell behind by 12, was there anyone in the country that believed that Chicago had any chance of coming back, even though there were 12 minutes left in the game? Anyone?
Bronco Billy
Um....wasn't it you that said Grossman would be better than Manning in the Superbowl? Is this what you were referring to? Grossman has outperformed Manning in QB rating in 9 of 18 games this season, including playoffs. Manning is the one who took a 39.6 rating dump in a playoff game this year while Grossman has been in the 70s both playoff games. Manning hasn't exceeded a QB rating of 80 in the 3 playoff games this year. Grossman has at least an even chance of putting up a better game than Manning. Why would you think I hate Manning? Everything I've put forth is based on fact. Manning is probably the best regular season QB the NFL has ever seen, and Grossman is pedestrian at best as a QB. Do a search - I was pimping the Bears playing Griese at QB before the season started and I still believe right now that CHI would be a better team with Griese at QB. The problem with Manning is that he becomes less than pedestrian in the playoffs. That's the facts. That you don't like it doesn't change it. Manning was solid but hardly awesome yesterday. 1 TD vs 1 INT? Putting up great yards in the first half but only finishing 1 drive? 54 yds passing in the second half? He's lucky he was facing Grossman & Bad Rex showed up or the outcome very well could have been different. rocknrobn26
When Chicago fell behind by 12, was there anyone in the country that believed that Chicago had any chance of coming back, even though there were 12 minutes left in the game? Anyone? As a matter of fact my cuz's boyfriend bet me $20 taking 10-1 odds w/ about 8 mins left. I rejected his first offer, because I virtually never bet against my Bears. Then he called me a pu$$ly, and I took it.
H8tank
Rex was so bad, in one league I drafted only one QB and that was griese I was so sure he would be the starter. Then, when the season started, there were no other QB's so I had to pickup rex... :barf:
