My wife and I went out to dinner with another couple this last Saturday night... kind of a mid to high range $ place with great atmosphere. We've been there a number of times and have really enjoyed the food. So anyway, we're all eating our main courses and about half way through the Manager of the restaurant comes over to our table. At first I thought we were going to be asked to stiffle our conversation because we were all taking politics and I'm sure some of the neighboring tables could overhear us. Instead the Manager says to me something like, "Your waitress asked me to come over and see how your dinner tasted. She saw that your Filet Mignon was a little more well done than you had requested. If you don't mind, I'd like to buy it for you tonight."

:D Ok.

To be honest it was a little well done, but I really didn't mind at all, and I wouldn't have even thought to complain about it. He also offered to replace the meal but I declined so that I could eat with the rest of my party. So we ended up ordering three desserts for our table and tipped the waitress very liberally.

What a nice surprise! :D

that's awesome. Great service makes up for almost anything IMO, yet sometimes it's very hard to find.

Great story...The four of you will probably tell several people about your experience and return to the restaurant several more times. Money very well spent by the manager. To bad more people in the industry don't realize the power of great service!!

:D

many places serve good food...what sets them appart is how they make you feel afterward..... attention, timing, warmth, and genuine attempts to right a wrong goes sooooo far. good to hear the good stories :D

Couldn't agree more. This is often what separates the good restaurants from the great.

Well, that and an amazing wine list. :bash:

Was at one of the nicer places here and the waitress trainee told me the scallops were supposed to be cold in the middle :D

When I mentioned this to the real waiter, Gerald, he was very embarrased and took them away.

They were cold in the middle like refrigerator cold, and I've ordered them there many times prior so I knew how the chef liked to prepare them.

It's schit like that which pisses me off, like I actually look as retarded as she thought I was and am.

yeah... that's bs. i'd much rather get it to you correctly (even if it is a 2nd attempt), than give you a poor product and then have someone lie to you.

a touch. scallops are one of those things are are very easy to over or undercook..... sounded like h8's were really bad though.

The first few times I made scallops they ended up making nice little hockey pucks, then I saw a little segment on the food network on how to properly sear them.
