Mushrooms

This may seem silly, but I have a small 4 oz. pack of sliced fresh mushrooms in the fridge and am wondering how I can use them. I am not one that likes to waste food so I may end up just putting them in a salad, but was wanting to use them a different way. I'm making my chili on Tuesday. Would mushrooms be good in chili? Never tried it. No plans on making spaghetti this week either so that is out of the question.

yikes:

in spaghetti (or other pastas), on pizza, sauted on burgers or sandiwches, in sauces and gravies, with asian noodle dishes, turned into a duxelle, sauted as a side dish, in risotto, to make a mushroom stock, raw or sauted on salads,

Thanks Bier! I was thinking of the burger thing myself. Probably my favorite burger is a mushroom swiss burger. Is it better to melt the cheese over raw mushrooms or saute them first? Whole mushrooms are what I like as a side, sauted in worcestershire and butter. I guess I can do the same with sliced shrooms.

I guess that's why there are so many different foods and recipes because I cannot stand Burgers with mushrooms.

saute your mushrooms and set them aside. cook your burger until it is 1 temperature below how you want it. throw the cheese on. throw under boiler (or just keep it on the grill or pan or whatever). toast bun. add shrooms back on and there you go.

I like mushrooms and garlic sauted in olive oil, and finish by adding a little red wine, cook for a 5 minutes and poor over a juicy steak.

Mmmm! Sounds tasty. Thanks all for the ideas. I have a couple ribeyes in the freezer. Can cook them on the grill(we can still do that here in Florida) and saute the shrooms. I love this Food and Bev site! :D

Invariably, if I have something in the fridge and I ask myself, what can I do with these? The answer always turns out to be, put them in a soup. In the case of mushrooms a nice hot and sour soup is always a good place for them.
