budlitebrad
http://cbs4denver.com/broncos/local_story_055221251.html CBS4's Gary Miller is reporting that Broncos' running back Damien Nash has died after collapsing at a charity basketball game in St. Louis. This is just a terrible week. It always happens in 3's...

Outshined
The sad part about it was that the charity event was for his brother. I am sure his whole family was there...How tragic and sad.

broncosn05
Denver takes another major blow and to a RB that I really think was better than Mike Bell.

Dr. Rock
Very sad. 100% pure speculation here but.. the event was a charity game to raise money for his older brother who had a heart transplant last month. Obviously his sibling had a serious enough heart issue to require a transplant.. sounds like there might be some serious genetic issues in that family. DMD
Man - how tragic can you get? He's not doing drugs or speeding or anything wrong. He died at the charity basketball for his brother's heart foundation. Just seems surreal.

Caveman_Nick
As much as I hate the Broncos, there is a part of me that will be rooting for the guys on that team next year. What a tough thing for the family and for his team mates. Especially tough for his brother, who will no doubt blame himself for something he had nothing to do with. I would bet the autopsy shows a serious congenital heart defect. Sad sad story.
Bronco Billy
Death seems to be stalking the Broncos this offseason. Here's to the memory of a good kid who busted his tail to get where he got.

spain
A 24 old athlete... how does this happen? Again, my guess would be a congenital heart defect that is prevelent in their family.
MikesVikes
I saw somewhere that heart disease was very common in his family. It's hard to imagine that Darris needed a heart transplant and his brother Damien died unexpectedly from the same thing. Darris was probably unhealthy for a very long time while Damien was a healthy football player. If Damien had a congenital heart defect, wouldn't they have known this at some point, especially since he has a family history?
MikesVikes
Why Are Heart Transplants Performed? A heart transplant procedure is considered when heart failure is so severe that it does not respond to all other therapies, but the person's health is otherwise good. The leading reasons why people receive heart transplants are because they have: Dilated cardiomyopathy Severe coronary artery disease with scarred heart tissue from a heart attack Birth defects of the heart link
fitzkek
I actually have chills reading this stuff. What an unfortunate tragic event. My thoughts and prayers go out to the Broncos, their families, and their fans.
