Tacoma News Tribune's Mike Sando is blogging that Chargers LG Kris Dielman was boarding a private plane for Seattle this morning and that a couple of coaches went down to meet him.

Falcons DE Patrick Kerney is expected to visit as early as Saturday, but is reportedly in Denver today.

This is new news?

There were rumors of serveral teams being interested in both Dielman and Kearney. The fact that Seattle and Denver seem to be getting first dibs on couple of the most coveted free agents is news to me. Sending coaches down to pick players up is usually treatment for guys they intend to sign.

Shouldn't you be posting such homer gems of knowledge like how Larry Johnson wants to win a championship and how awesome the KC defense is? :D

Wanna talk about Defense huh? I'm ready for your :D and excuses to begin.

By the way....I had read multiple sources that stated exactly what you posted so I just didn't see the big deal for the post. Now if they had signed or LEFT the Seahags then that might merit consideration.

Hat Twit, I was giving you a bad time about the subjective homerism you object the Huddle nation to at the beginning of every season and how you were routinely pimping the awesome KC defense last year. This thread was intended to be about some new homer news, reported this morning, regarding some of the upper tier free agents and how it relates to the Hawks.

If you are intent on battling, please go over to the tailgate and tell everyone how you have a ton of respect for bigots like Tim Hardaway because they aren't politically correct. TIA.

:DI have said they'd improved, I never said the words awesome to any extent, EVER!!!!!!!!!!! And when your Defense is so f'n bad that the NFL commisoner makes fun of it in front of the team Owner...it hurts...so us Chiefs fans want it to get better and talk of it getting better cause it has been

TIA.Once again, I never said I respected him, EVER, never said that. Do you just talk out of your ass all day or what? I said he has the "right" to say whatever he wants and here's the key part dumbass, I do not agree with what he said in any form

You crack me up, you say that I say all of these things and none of them are true. Show me some proof. I'll be here waiting. I guess for some reason I rubbed you the wrong way, not sure why, don't play in leagues with you and have never flamed you unless you were crying about something.

I guess Tapp hasn't lived up to what the Hawks hoped he would be? I thought he did OK stat-wise as a part time pass rusher, and it's only his second year..... is he not in the plans for the future?

Tapp is only 6-1/265. He has skills on the pass rush, but some would say he's too small to be an every down DE in the NFL. Kerney would be a boon for the depth chart, as I can't imagine any other reason they'd concern themselves with him at this point in time.

Tapp would be fine if Wistrom and Fisher and the rest of the D-Line weren't undersized as well. I'm not much for Kerney, but Diehlman would be HUGE!!!!! I haven't heard us bringing in any safeties, kinda gettin' scared. I love Ken Hamlin, but dude is a strong safety, not a free safety.

That isn't that big, and they both play significantly smaller.

The average starting DE of the Seahawks NFC West opponents is 6-3/274.

The average starting DE of the other 3 NFC division champions is 6-3/272.

Again, Wistrom is listed at 6-4/275. Fisher is listed at 6-3/272.

Again, they both play and look as if they weighed about 245. Both are very slim for DE's and have high centers of gravity. Teams continually run right at both of them. Both have good motors but are not good at the point of contact. Try to do the exact same breakdown with the DT's. Bernard and Darby have to be one of the smallest combos in the NFL. If you are going to go with DT's that small, you need DE's that could be considered "big". The point is, this line gets pushed all over the place by physical teams, and Tapp just makes this worse.

No, they are quite average. Look at the numbers I put up. Tapp is the one that is smallish, which is what the original comment addressed.

The problem isn't the DE position. Marcus Tubbs got hurt in the middle of the year, so it's not like the Seahawks "went with" a small set of interior linemen. Darby and Bernard don't have the bulk that Tubbs has, so it freed blocking schemes to focus on the LB, which allowed teams to run to the strong side (at the ends) and away from Tatupu/Peterson.

Kerney would be fine for depth purposes, but the team really needs more bulk in the middle of the defense to offset its undersized MLB more than it's DEs.

Okay. Have you ever watched a Seahawk game?? Tatupu plays bigger than he is listed. Wistrom and Fisher play much smaller than they are listed. If the two DE's really played like they weiged 275, why do they get blown out the hole every time they get ran at?? I agree they need more bulk in the middle, but what team doesn't?? It isn't going to happen. A way to compensate for this would be to acquire a DE that could help against the run.
