Heard Fischer last year on talk radio and it was pretty vague........like he hurt the team someway by what he did...... If I remember correctly, he wanted a chance to play. He was stuck behind McNair for a while, and then when it finally looks like his time has come, the Titans drafted Young. That I'm sure soured his attitude and made him want to get out of town ASAP. Volek knew he wasn't going anywhere but to the sideline with a clipboard in TEN. Now, given his performances, I'm not sure he's NFL starting quality, but the only way a team can find out is to start the guy. He's sure got enough experience and his skill set would suggest he could succeed.

They got into some very serious verbal altercation that made their continuing working together essentially untenable. That is why they signed Collins 10 days before the season started and immediately inserted him into the starting lineup. A few days later, the deal with the Chargers was made for Volek. Again, that is just sort of the generally accepted story of what happened with Volek in Nashville but I dont have any link confirming that story. I've been a fan of Fisher's since they were the Oilers, and I know I had never seen him, let alone any coach not named Ditka, as genuinely angry with a player as he was. Voice was trembling as he spoke vaguely about Volek hurting the team. It was true borderline hatred coming out of the guy, which you could tell he was suppressing with great effort. It hurt just to watch cause Fisher is such an accomplished coach.

Volek had made some comments at the airport to a reporter as he was leaving to go to San Diego, and Fisher felt he had to respond. And when he did, it was the most negative I have ever seen Fisher be about any player, Titan or opponent.
