Fantasy Jesus
Porter Heads To Miami Former Steeler Agreed To Contract With Dolphins POSTED: 8:32 am EST March 6, 2007 PITTSBURGH -- Former Steelers linebacker Joey Porter has a new contract. Overnight, Channel 11's Alby Oxenreiter learned the Pro Bowler has agreed to a five-year contract with the Miami Dolphins. Sources said the deal includes about $24 million in guaranteed money and a signing bonus in the neighborhood of $12 million. Porter is expected to sign his new contract on Tuesday in Miami. His final choices were between the Dolphins and the Cincinatti Bengals. This year, the Steelers play the Dolphins at home. The date for the game has not been set. http://www.wpxi.com/sports/11181905/detail.html The defense should be nice with Jason taylor and Porter coming off the ends. Shame the offense will take a few years to get a clue

Here's Ricky . . . . http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?...SPG5KODA3M1.DTL Current weight = 220 "Yes, Williams hopes to play football in the NFL this year. Soon, he will petition the NFL commissioner for reinstatement, having been suspended in '06 for flunking that fourth drug test." Look for him to apply for reinstatement in early April with a return to the Dolphins around draft time. David Martin is more a large WR than TE. He was hurt a lot too. Hope they get someone else too.
Perchoutofwater
Porter to Miami just doesn't make sense to me. Hasn't he been in a 3-4 for his whole career, and now he is moving to a 4-3. Will he he even be an every down starter in the 4-3? Seems like a lot of money to be paying an attitude who isn't proven in the system that you run. The first year under Saban the Dolphins ran a 4-3 with some mix 3-4 sprinkled in. Last year we ran a more hybrid 3-4 allowing Jason Taylor to move around. I think this is a good signing cause you have three great LBers (Thomas, Crowder, and now Porter) along with one of the most dangerous defensive players allowing him to either sit down as an end or stand up as a LB. jaxfactor
Thank you Joey for not going to the Bengals. And thank you Miami for overpaying him. Well, doesn't everyone overpay in free agency?
Flip_Side
Good pickup, our LB will be great with Thomas, Crowder and Porter. I've always hated the guy, but i'll give him another chance.
jjpro11
hes not as bad as everyone makes him out to be.. sure he runs his mouth an awful lot.. but you wont ever see him take a play off or not stick up for a teammate. as far as im concerned he seems like a decent guy. hes always good to the fans at training camp, never been in trouble with the law other than getting shot, family man, married with kids. i'll always be a fan of his and im glad he didnt sign with an afc north team though. the only concern i would have is his age and playing in the 4-3. he had a hard time shedding off blocks from just running backs this year.
