CaptainHook
according to ESPN, Harper signed a three year deal with the Titans. I am actually quite sad to see him go. He was always a very steady, above average cornerback. I remember when the brought him in from the CFL, you could see he had talent. I was always yelling for the Colts to play him over Jeff Burris or David Macklin. Glad to see him get a long term deal, but at 32 years old, i can see why the Colts passed. Especially since they have addressed the cornerback spot in the draft, and have plenty of young guys in the wings. Jason David, Marlin Jackson, Kelvin Hayden, and Tim Jennings are a very solid quartet of DB's.

Outshined
Must be Pacmans replacement. Whats the word about June? Is Indy going to or want to resign him
max
I like Harper. He is a solid DB. Was it Harper that got stabbed in the thigh with a knife bt his wife not long before the Colts v Steelers playoff game? CaP'N GRuNGe
I thought he might sign with Minnesota. I guess Shiancoe remains our shining diamond of free agency for now.

Yeah - I thought Harper would play nickel. He probably thought he would be able to start in Tenn.
Bill Swerski
Jason David, Marlin Jackson, Kelvin Hayden, and Tim Jennings are a very solid quartet of DB's. That's the only reason that I'm not horribly upset about this. They'll take a hit at CB in the short-term, but I'd rather they not over-pay for a guy who is entering the down-slope of his career. Now Cato June needs to be re-signed. I'm going to barf if Rob Morris and Gilbert Gardner are our starting OLBs next season.
BeeR
David pretty much sucks and Jackson is a safety pretending to be a CB (if he's so good why wasn't he starting) while Heyden and Jennings are largely unproven - many seem to think Heyden is great because he made a pick in the SB. They might all pan out fine don't get me wrong, but letting your best cover guy go esp considering how leaky our D has generally been is a VERY questionable move (course Polian started that tradition w/the LBs so why not the CBs?). As for June, he can cover OK but thinks "tackle" means something you keep fishing gear in. No thanks. If we're not going to use that $ on Harper we best not friggin use it on him. Draft somebody and start him.

Draft somebody and start him. I disagree that David "sucks." He's average at worst. June is also significantly better than you're suggesting. Agreed that he's not Joey Porter or Lance Briggs, but he's a hell of a lot better than Gilbert Gardner, Rob Morris, or Rocky Boiman. I can understand your unwillingness to match the huge contract that he might get from a more desperate team, but I'd rather spend on a young June, considernig that their other OLBs completely blow, the Colts won't get a higher-ceiling OLB in the draft this year, Harper is entering the down-side of his career, and Jackson and Heyden are halfway decent stop-gaps at CB. CaptainHook
Jason David is fine. For where they drafted him, and what they are paying, they are gettiing a hell of a deal. Marlin Jackson is ready to be a starting cornerback now. I think Keiaho will be the weak-side backer this year. Morris and Gardner may compete for the strong-side spot, but i think they may look to grab someone in the draft as well. June is long gone. No way do they get him signed. If they wanted too, they would have already.
Bill Swerski
David pretty much sucks and Jackson is a safety pretending to be a CB (if he's so good why wasn't he starting) IIRC, Jackson was drafted as a CB in the first round and was only playing safety because Doss was hurt. He's still very young and it looks like he has a shot to be a pretty decent NFL corner. Thankfully Bethea looks like he's ready to take over at SS now.
