Kaesviharn, entering his seventh NFL season, was an Unrestricted Free Agent after leading the Cincinnati Bengals in 2006 with six interceptions and also recording 58 tackles, a career-high four sacks and a forced fumble. “Kevin will be a good addition to our group of safeties from a productivity standpoint on the field in addition to being a leader for our young players,” said Executive Vice President/General Manager Mickey Loomis. “He has been a solid, consistent player for the Bengals for several years and a good influence in the locker room. Kevin is the kind of player we were looking for to add to our mix on defense.” Kaesviharn (6-0, 196) joined the Bengals as a free agent in 2001 and has played in 87 games, with 45 starts. In his career he has posted 357 stops (252 solo), 15 interceptions, six sacks, four fumble recoveries, a pair of forced fumbles and 47 pass defenses. Three of his interceptions in 2006 were in the end zone. Kaesviharn had a season-best nine tackles against the Saints, Nov. 19 – including 1.5 sacks – and added an interception. In 2005, he started all 16 contests and had a career-best 92 tackles (69 solo), three interceptions, three fumble recoveries and a sack. Kaesviharn began his pro football career with the Arena Football League's Iowa Barnstormers (1999-2000) before moving on to the XFL in 2001 (San Francisco Demons). He was a three-year starter at Augustana (San Diego). His last name is pronounced “CASE-vih-harn.” – SAINTS –

rajncajn
Guess Payton liked what he saw when he helped whip us. I think he'll be a lot of help in the secondary & makes CB a little bit less of a need.

Sox
I've watched him his entire career with the Bengals. He's a good nickleback, and very effective as one on a short field on passing downs. He's not as effective against the run,or deep. He's smart, can start in a pinch, and a great locker room guy. Good luck KK.

Good luck KK. Simmons ought to help us cover the run better and having Hollis Thomas for a full season will help as well. Kaesviharn will probably compete with Josh Bullocks to start at FS opposite Roman Harper (who is also good at run support) so his primary function should be pass coverage. If he can just play at the level he did in that same role for Cincy he should be a big help to our D.

Man, my FF team's going to rock with Kaesviharn outscoring almost all the RBs!

He didn't play as just a nickel back, he played extensively at both safety positions as well while either Dexter Jackson or Madieu Williams were out due to injuries. I can only assume that your sarcasm meter is in the shop being repaired. I'd prefer to assume that than the alternative...
