Outshined
From NFL.com Before he was sentenced Johnson pleaded with Cook County Circuit Judge John Moran for leniency. "Your honor, I don't believe I'm a man who belongs in jail," he said. But prosecutor Rick Cenar said jail time was appropriate. "Just because he's a professional football player and plays for the Chicago Bears, doesn't put him above the law," Cenar said.

Jolly Rodgers
How convenient that he only gets 4 months in jail so he can be back in time for training camp. Not above the law my ass....

Bill Swerski
So how long until Tank gets arrested again? I'll guess another 15 months.

I wonder if they let him set the date and time or nabbed him right away. KRob was even allowed to serve 2 different state's sentences concurrently in a state of his own choossing. Few defendants can do that.
cdrudge
I wonder if they let him set the date and time or nabbed him right away.According to the 2nd line of the ESPN article, he was taken into immediate custody.

Well that cant be right, I thought NFL players were allowed to go chill with their homies for a couple days before they went to jail. They also put him in a cell by himself and he will not have contact w/ the general population.
Pope Flick
They also put him in a cell by himself and he will not have contact w/ the general population. That isn't unusual in itself, given his 'hi-profile/celebrity' status. That's not the usual NFL perk but more of a celbrity thing. Now, serving two jail sentences at the same time, a la KRob is something that doesn't seem right at all. I'm actually disappointed with the Bears. Clearly they knew this had a strong chance of happening. I certainly DO believe in innocent until proven guilty, but they now need to administer their own punishment, especially seeing as how they took him to Miami. If they don't that gets a big thumbs down....

Savage Beatings
I'm sorry, maybe I'm in the minority on this one, but this is a BS charge and sentence IMO. The police go to his house, and while there they find weapons (about the same number and type of weapons that my friends and I have in our homes)... and he has to go to jail for 4 months because he didn't register the weapons??? Please. I thought we had overcrowded jails. It's no wonder we do, if we're filling them up with BS stuff like this. FREE TANK! FREE TANK! FREE TANK! Pope Flick
Part of the reason he's going to jail is that the gun charge is a violation of his probation from previous charges. It isn't a first time thing he's going to jail.
