Packet of McCormick's Taco Seasoning

Open packet, pour over browning ground beef and stir in some water. Cook down and enjoy.

You want it spicier, add in some extra cayenne to the mix.

That stuff is garbage...where are the chefs with their secret recipes?

cumin

chili powder

garlic powder or fresh garlic

coriander

cayenne pepper

kosher salt

I do it all to taste. Pretty basic.

With the above, I also chuck in a little spicy paprika, & I like a pinch of sugar, or a teaspoon of tomato paste for a hint of sweetness.

My first "secret" is that I don't make tacos with ground beef. If you want a great taco made from beef, take some flank steak (hanger steak better still if you can find it) and marinate it with coca-cola, salt, and ground dried chilis. Grill and chop up then put in a warm tortilla with chopped cilantro, diced onions and cooked red salsa of your choice.

for "tacos" i use a similar blend (no coriander, use a little cinnamon and cocoa powder). i hardly ever make these.

i'll marinate and grill steak (flank or skirt) and dice it.
