Bier Meister
i am off and decided to spend a night in the mountains and ski tomorrow...... grabbed: - Monsenese chianti classico (95) - Chateau Cantemerle haut-medoc (96) will give reports as the night goes on..... currently drinking: Grand Bateau bordeaux (04) 75% merlot, 25% cab.... red fruit (cherry) stands out... mediocre wine. Bier Meister
that grand bateau has gotten better over the past hour...... cherry is more profound and am now getting some anisette and a nice spice to it. other two have been openned for about a half hour and i haven't approached them yet. Bier Meister
all openned.... fun having 2 bordeaux and a chianti the ch. cantemelre is more complex. black raspberry/cassis, leather. chianti has more bing cherry than the bateau.. smacks you in the face. i get an herbal flavor from the bateau (thyme i think)

Seattle LawDawg
I'm just drinking Red Hook ESB. Nothing wrong with a Red Hook ESB at all.
Brewer
Nothing wrong with a Red Hook ESB at all. I know. I was just feeling a little left out with all of this talk about "bing cherries" and "anissette" and "herb". All I taste is malt and all I smell is hop. Probably cascade. Bing cherries? hop. Bing cherries? hop.

Brewer
you should have gone for the cherry wheat. I used to make a cherry wheat with fresh cherries from the new york finger lakes region. Alas, my parenting responsibilities have precluded me from making that for several years now. I liked Sam Adams cherry wheat the first 2 years that they produced it. For whatever reason, it changed about year 3. Not a big fan of it now, although I do drink a few every year.
