muck
...HOU start negotiating with Bush and Williams? Shouldn't Al start calling the agents for a couple of the top picks to get the ball rolling in case he's not able to trade down a couple of spots? Bronco Billy
You can usually start to hear about negotiations about 5 days to 1 week before the draft starts. OAK can negotiate right now if they want, but they probably are more focused on working trade offers. As soon as rumors break out regarding who they are negotiating with, they can lose a lot of leverage in their trading position. Fatman
Wasn't David Carr signed well in advance of the draft, like two weeks?
xMRogers
I remember the Bush discussions happening WAY before the draft (although my memory these days isn't exactly the best...)

So, Al should call Joe Thomas, Adrian Peterson, Jamarcus Russell, Brady Quinn and Calvin Johnson and ask each agent for the same pieces of information and not reply to the agents until all agents have submitted the requested information. Rinse. Repeat.
The Irish Doggy
The Bengals contacted the agents for Palmer, Leftwich, and Terrance Newman a week or two in advance.
piratesownninjas
The Bengals contacted the agents for Palmer, Leftwich, and Terrance Newman a week or two in advance. Just think... The Bengals could have Byron Leftwich starting at qb...

It was a couple of weeks before the draft IIRC, but didnt get serious until 4-5 days leading up to the draft.

We should rule out logic with at least the first two picks...
