CaP'N GRuNGe
It would be a mistake I think to take a CB that high at # 7 for Minnesota.
REZ
49ers won't let Willis get by them. And I believe Jarrett is higher on their board then Ginn if they do decide to go wr.
Caveman_Nick
I made a similar comment in Swiss' draft... 24. NEP – Darrelle Revis, CB, Pittsburgh 28. NEP – Robert Meachem, WR, Tenn Nothing against the individual player, but with 9 WR on the depth chart, having spent an early second last year on Chad Jackson and having traded a second for Welker, I can't see the Pats picking up a WR in round one. Sgt. Ryan
Detroit wants to maximize the value of the #2 pick, and since they wont use it on Calvin, they trade down just far enough to get the guy they want, plus extra picks. Washington only has 1 first day pick, so they are approached ahead of by Buffalo for rights to select Peterson. Minnesota finally gets some back end help for their defense. If Brady Quinn is here, they select him. SF needs a vertical threat or this offense is going no where. Too high for Ginn, probably but he is a need for them, and the other burners will go later in round 1, so they cant afford to pass on a guy like Ginn here Green Bays most pressing need is RB, and why gamble on someone later, when you can have a #1 type back right here. Tenn would like to give Vince Young a Wr to throw too, but the need at CB is too great, and there will be posession Wrs to be found in round 2. NY gets the steal of the first round with Branch sliding all the way to them at #20. He is exactly what they need on defense. Many think Dallas will want to go CB or S here, but Jerry Jones is back in control of the draft and he wants to make a splash. Kansas City would love to go WR, but OL is a bigger need at this point. New England will take a CB, and may go LB over Meachem for their 2nd pick in this round New York will take a chance on Bowe to give this offense a better option than Cotchery. Bowe could also supplant Coles as the Jets #1 Wr by yr 3. Philly needs to replace Stallworth, but the need to upgrade their S position over Considine is a bigger need. Merriweather is being looked at by Dallas and New england, but they pass and Philly scoops him up. Indy needs to replace Cato June, and Timmons is a bigger version of June. Perfect fit. They make take a TE in round 1 again. Edited April 20, 2007 by Sgt. Ryan
Sgt. Ryan
BTW, could you imagine if Carolina took Ginn. Smith and ginn on the same field would be a nightmare for any defense.
Fatman
Nice mock. I really like the Staley pick for KC looking at his draft stock rising and KC's line falling apart. As for GB, my gut says that Thompson won't take a RB at 16. I would expect them to either trade down or take a WR or TE. Considering the relative depth at RB, I would guess that they wait til round 2. Going to be interesting.
rajncajn
27. NOS – Aaron Ross, CB, Texas I can definitely see this happening even if the Saints get David, but don't be surprised if they pick D Line either if someone drops. Finding a replacement for Charles Grant this year rather than next could be a very smart move with the depth of this class. If Carriker were to drop a couple of spots he could be the pick or Spencer from Purdue could definitely be a possibility
PSULions
BTW, could you imagine if Carolina took Ginn. Smith and ginn on the same field would be a nightmare for any defense. I have seen a few mocks with both Ginn or Nelson going to the Panthers, but I think Safety is a bigger issue for them with Minter in is last season they need to get younger in that position. I think he is a better fit for the team. Ginn does provide the ST slant that could really help the team, but I am hoping we don't take him... I saw him against Penn State two years ago and he was not very effective that game.... I am not sure I think he will be effective enough to warrant the Panthers taking him at #14. I also think you did a very nice job with the entire 1st round as you took in the needs of various teams and I think a lot of the earlier picks will pan out pretty close to what you have listed. Nice job! Edited April 20, 2007 by PSULions
Bronco Billy
16. GBP – Marshaun Lynch, RB, Cal 21. DEN – Adam Carriker, DE, Nebraska This would bring great joy to Rancho BB.
kingfish247
32. IND – Lawrence Timmons, LB FSU Assuming Willis doesn't slip past 11 or 13, there are about 8 teams remaining that could use an upgrade at LB. About half desperately need some help at LB. I don't think Timmons will last long enough for IND. Edited April 20, 2007 by kingfish247
Randall
This would bring great joy to Rancho BB. BB what do you think of Denver trading up with SF to grab Willis? There are a lot of DE's in this draft and they could grab one later. Willis would be a stud in Bates' defense imo.
Vicster
Hard for me to believe that St. Louis takes a LB here. I believe they'll take either a DE or DT with that pick. I'd say they are hopefull Okoye slides far enough they can take him, but wouldn't be surprised to see them trade down, if possible, to take Branch and get a pick to help in other areas on the team. DEN & SF are on very friendly terms in regard to player movement.

Bronco Billy
He isnt 1st round talent, but he will go in round 1. Yeah, he is. He won't put up great FF numbers, but he will have to be accounted for on every play. The guy is going to make players immediately around him a lot better while putting up decent but not eye-popping numbers himself.
forever in debt to mo lewis
not a terrible effort sarge but i think minnesota would be crazy to pass on landry for hall...especially when they could still land a solid corner in the 2nd if they desired...although its more likely theyd be lookin at wr help in the 2nd i also kinda find it hard to believe that charles johnson is going that high...if in the first at all....but i could be wrong

The guy is going to make players immediately around him a lot better while putting up decent but not eye-popping numbers himself. So you are saying he could develop into Kyle Vanden Bosch. I dont see it, he isnt great at anything excpet stopping the run. He isnt that quick off the end, isnt powerful enough to blow up OT at the next level. But then again, Kampman wasnt either initially either, and he has turned himself into a probowler. Edited April 20, 2007 by Sgt.
